Default Raptor Supercharger Kit

http://www.raptorsc.com.au/kits.php?id=49

I was looking into buying this for my 07 2.5i. I was wondering if anyone has installed this in their impreza and how its working out. I guess my main question is how reliable is the supercharger on the 2.5i engines. I would be running it at 6psi w/o an intercooler. Also are there any mods that need to be done before installing the supercharger. (I've heard that you need bigger injectors) Any input is appreciated, except for the buy a wrx input...

build your own turbo kit, i just snagged pretty much all the parts i need for really cheap, you could piece one together for 1k or less, most of the work can be done by you honestly, and just save a couple hundred for a good tune from someone who knows subarus, and for less thank 1500 youre making the same power if not more if you go full exhaust, intake, upgraded injectors so forth and so on, its literally what im doing right now, so dont let people say you cant boost, you can, just in small amounts unless you want to upgrade those weak rods and go with an sti piston rod combo, then you can run more, its not hard its just most n/a people on here are lazy and hate to see things like this work

vicious, so I read your story about installing the raptor kit and how their customer service was great, which is a HUGE plus. Do you think I should be alright if I run 6psi of boost with bigger injectors and a tune?

Open source or Cobb accessport and you'll be fine. Sean at rallitek can hook u with a safe strong tune. My raptor kits been flawless. Getting ready for 10 psi soon as pulley gets here and tune is sent. Fuel pump is Also good to have. I have detch 440cc injectors that once at 10 psi will still be fine. Built 10:1 block later this year with SOHC springs cams and valves. Goal of 12 psi is in the works for me. Should be 300+ with even more torque than that. Tranny gets only dog gears that's it maybe a tranny cooler but doubtly.

I would do a supercharger. Raptor kit is good. I have one.

I am really curious how a Vortech would do on these engines.. like an H67b they put on the BRZ. But nobody makes a kit for it.

I would go for 8 psi... If you're going through the effort, might as well go for the most power. Beyond 8 psi I think it probably gets iffy on the stock bottom end, unless you are on race fuel. Just my opinion.

I would do it on a manual transmission, not so sure about the 4EAT with that much power.

djay2x0, I am surprised that if you have an STI, you would want to do this...

4eat holds power better than sticks and can be modified to hold 800CHP. stock form can hold in the 300CHP neighborhood.

you should go for it.

it is a fun driving car, i am just not sure if it will let you down compared to an STI.

But... 200whp on a 200k old wagon daily driving not bad. it's not a race car but it moves.

maybe 4eat is not a problem.

if you want to keep going, you can do that too of course.
long term plans are 257 block (or equivalent) and then max out my supercharger, see what happens from there., but if the old 253 lasts forever I may not bother replacing it preemptively.

I think the non intercooled kit that also doesn't include injectors is the best bang for the buck.

It's 2400 USD, not sure what it is shipped maybe $2700 or so.
Injectors, I would go with 550's, 420s are too small.

425CHP is about the max a supercharger can do on stock SOHC heads and turbo block. centrifugal superchargers need rpm to make power, thus power is linear and made in high rpms.

Why is 425chp the limit - just curious? Not that that isn’t decent power. What if you forced 20psi into a ej253 head with a blower cam?

Only so much air can flow in and out. Eventually you hit a wall no matter the setup.

Intake and head aren’t a big restriction from what I understand they flow almost as much as the 257 heads? So what is the limiter? Obviously you
Might swap out cams.

I’m thinking more like anyone making 550-600 crank hp? Could be possible with a vortech Si trim.

How did this end up? Did you do it? If so, how did you go about tuning? Thinking about doing the same to my '07 2.5i. Thanks for the help.

Default Raptor Supercharger Kit

I have put the Raptor kit through the ringer although I haven’t dynod my last instance. I am happy to answer as much as I can. On an 07 you would do an ecuflash open source tune. There is free software that lets you change all of the necessary parameters but it is best done by a pro on a dyno, about $500. With that being said, there are parameters you may need to research before hand, most importantly the per rpm load limit. Most pro tuners don’t know how to fix this because it is not an issue on turbo vehicles. I am happy to help fix (or at least look) on any NA car you send me the ROM for.

I am new to this idea too. Is this just a "bolt on" supercharger, new injectors, and ecu flash? What else is involved. I just got a new short block in the car, so I'm deciding if it is even worth it...

Default Raptor Supercharger Kit

I am actually selling my Raptor kit now in the classifieds section , asking $2k and it comes with sti injectors and 0 mile rebuild on the supercharger and will consider offers. Selling for a bigger one to support lots of power.

What year and vehicle are you thinking of putting it on? Transmission? It is basically all bolt on however there is some tinkering to be done, it is really not hard and I have pretty much documented the entire process beyond the manufacturers instructions.

Is it worth it, depends on your goals.

On 93 I think you can expect around 200whp and lb ft with 8 psi. Do you have access to e85? If you do water meth injection or e85 you can be at 300+ whp with 12 psi. The Raptor spins out around there (50k impeller rpm) so that is about all it can do. I have seen 315 g/s so figure 315whp possible maybe more with e85.

If you are looking for the most simple setup just slap it on there with the 6 psi pulley and no intercooler and be around 175whp. Upgrade later if you want. My kit includes 3 pulleys also. (6ish , 8 ish and 12ish psi). I do think 8psi pulley is the sweet spot on 93 octane and is very mild on your motor if you don’t want to mess with e85 or water meth.

I have a bunch of notes I’d be happy to share plus a huge thread on subaruoutback.org.
