It can be done, but isn't suggested. Run a seperate relay to the bosch and call it good.

it sounds like things are getting confused a bit here. he can run some heavy gauge wires from the battery to the relay and trigger the relay with the fuel pump controller relay. unless i looked at it wrong, my sti's fuel pump controller is powered by a relay that goes on with the ignition switch.

I mentioned the relay, just wanted to know how to trigger it? Just from the stock controller or by the ignition?

the ignition triggers a relay for the stock controller and its already back there. check a diagram and use the current relay trigger for the new one.

I have some heavy gauge wire from the battery running dirrectly to the + on the pump, and a relay on the ground side connected to the stock controller.

I know there was a diagram floating around on the boards somewhere.

Element Tuning makes a complete kit for exactly what you want to do. It comes with the wiring, instructions, etc.

Im in the same boat, I wanna do the 044 inline. I don't wanna run dual fuel pumps.

But in case you decide too, I found this.
http://www.fullblownmotorsports.net/...roducts_id/119

We've designed a dual pump hanger for the Subaru WRX. This kit will include everything you need to mount (2) walbro 255hp pumps inside the tank. We have tested this setup up to 900+hp in many other vehicles. No more sumping the tank or modifying the tank to make power. This is the last fuel system that you will need. ** we offer complete kits that include lines to the front of the vehicle and back as well. Please contact us for more details.

The Bosch 044 is an inline pump. I am running the Bosch 040 in-tank pump. It replaced my Walbro. I'm also using T1 Racing Developments top feed conversion kit with ID1000's that setup is enough to get me436/426 @ 24psi 93oct. 499/468 @ 28psi on MS109. I don't know what the IDC's are though. I haven't been told or been able to see a log. I'm curious to know how much headroom I have to be able to run E85 but wont care for it for at least a couple years.

just in case anyone was even thinking about using that link a couple posts up for that dual walbro setup that costs like $600 with the pumps...

here is the bushur setup...you send in your stock fuel pump assembly and they send back a dual pump setup with everything you need for $400
https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...a5bacdecb15d42

OR...a guy john 1badsti over in the e85 thread knows how to aquire all the parts to build basically the same setup as the bushur one for a little cheaper...

...just some fyi for anyone using the search button in the future...

Did you just hose clamp it to the stock hanger?

I don't see the big issue here.... Cut off the big c shaped piece holding the walbro/stock in-tank pump on the bottom, buy a 2.25 fuel pump bracket, or make one.

http://compare.ebay.com/like/3102740...=263602_304662

^ Fuel pump bracket

Mount pump, trace wires with ohmmeter that go to the stock pump, cut those wires from the outside leaving enough room for soldering new wires on, attach said wires to a relay to turn on when ignition is on, on the inside of the tank cut the electrical connector that originally attached to the in tank pump and connect those wires to the 044, put on the sock mentioned previously and done!

not ****ing hard

among other things, yes. there are a couple mods that need to be done like shortening the hose on the outlet side but its all easy.

I really like the idea of the surge tank, because you have the option of running dual pumps.
you are incorrect sir...I have a one installed in the tank using stock hardware piece of cake

I used an 044 in my 2007 sti tank. It worked well, but that sucker was loud once the fuel started dipping below a quarter tank.

Fine Line Imports made a kit to do just this. There site seems to be down right now for a redesign.

I also used a 044 in tank without issues, MSI made a kit that fine line imports was selling.

Will the 044 fit in tank in a 15+ sti without any additional parts or is the msi kit needed on the newer cars too? The product info says only good for 07 and older so I'm wondering how this gets installed on a 15+.

Highly unlikely. The housing on the 15+ is completely different and the factory pump is smaller than the 04-07. The 044 is pretty outdated and there are a lot of 300+ lph drop in pumps that perform pretty well if you use a hardwire kit.
