shrug it looks like a concept EV QX50 with Mustang taillights.

My friend who has a GT500 on order who is wanting an EV (he just installed a Large solar system) and is a Ford guy just said no to this. Main sticking point for him was the stuck on iPad.

Not sold on the looks (front looks like it has bulldog underbite or something). Rear end could be any CUV with Mustang tail lights slapped on. Kind of lazy effort IMO even if you don't ask me. Should have just made an EV version of the Bronco with this drivetrain instead for mall-crawling style points.

I don't mind that it is Mustang inspired, but really doesn't need the Mustang's "Mach" designation or pony logo for an CUV. If it was a real Mustang coupe with an EV powertrain, then the Mach E and pony logo would be perfect. Otherwise, Ford should build a new EV identity.

They did a whole lot of mfr's to market. That's the most important thing. To them.

The GT ended up looking better than I expected.

GT does look much better.
I’d be curious to see or read about how it rides. It better be sporty. I’d consider an SUV like that if so. |

I'm curious what the gap in capabilities of their autopilot competitor will be at that point (about a year from now). How much would that affect the competitiveness of the vehicle? The straight line acceleration is competitive, the range is somewhat competitive, but the charging and efficiency are definitely behind. Will it be able to do mostly hands free driving in stop and go like a Tesla, or will it still require to user to reactivate it after 3 seconds of stopping?

Got to love sacrificing longevity for short term results! Toyota can’t even make their own sports car . They will probably “partner” with some other auto who fronts most of the development and just slap a Toyota badge on it. |

All the Japanese manufacturers are behind... I'm surprised about toyota considering how long they've had the prius. You'd think that knowledge would've translated into an EV by now.
I like this Mach-E, I just don't think it has anything to do with Mustang -- it dilutes the name imo. I guess Ford thinks it can't sell without all the cachet that name implies. |

I don't like that it is actually named as a Mustang. It really has nothing to do with the Mustang. The interior is nowhere Mustang inspired. The outside isn't either, except for the taillights. I see more Edge than Mustang in the headlights.

Taking back the 'Maverick' name would have been better, but selling out was what they choose to do.
Considering how important it is that Ford get their first EV crossover to sell, it isn't surprising. How they're going to produce sufficient batteries to keep up with production will be interesting. |

The Mach-E might be the first of many offshoots

The new CEO at Ford is a complete and total ass hat. Diluting the Mustang is the worst thing they can do.

If this falls flat / disappoints in terms of sales, kind of like the Audi Etron and Jaguary I-Pace, the furniture salesman will be remembered for ruining the Mustang.

And if that happens, the next piece of furniture in his future should be an electric chair.
I do have to admit, the GT version does look much better. Still should not have the Mustang name on it. Waiting for when GM copies this idea and split the Corvette name brand off of Chevrolet and inevitably onto some hi-po SUV they can charge bigger dollars for since they seemed more than willing to throw SS badges onto almost anything in the past. |

Their marketing seems pretty weak in the US though, not sure if that's a contributing factor for low US sales. I think Ford is going to have a hard time with this vehicle. Majority of the EV sales are along the coasts which are more population dense and also more techy. I think majority of those EV buyers prefer Tesla simply because it's considered a tech company and part of the tech culture. |
