And no, I'm not saying Saban is ineffective or bad. But is he still the best? Top 2? Top 3? Has Dabo passed him? What about Day? Riley? Coach O? Day and Riley clearly don't have the resume but what about real time, right in this moment? Here's where I'm coming from with that question. I think we were actually watching Ohio State fall, albeit slowly, over the course of the last 4 seasons. I truly think the other elite coaches and programs had not only caught Urban but passed him by. When he retired, I'm not sure he was a top 5 coach anymore. Blowing the 2015 season (the most talent roster in the country) by being out coached and game planned by Dantonio. Blowing a lead against Penn State, having a one dimensional offense (Curtis Samuel was the offense) in 2016 and getting blown out by Clemson. 2017 had blow out losses to Oklahoma and Iowa. 2018 was a 13-1 team with literally the worst defense in Ohio State history and a blow out loss to Purdue. They gave up 50+ to MARYLAND..... Things were happening that we never saw with Urban prior to 2015. Bad coordinator hires (Ed Warriner, Tim Beck, Bill Davis, Alex Grinch (yes, I think he's bad... maybe he's Big 12 defense good), Greg Schiano, etc.) This year's team is basically the same as last year, except with a new QB and new coaching staff (Day cleaned out the bad and kept the few good coordinators). Suddenly they look unstoppable. It begs the question, was the rest of college football beginning to catch up and even maybe pass Urban? If Urban does return to coach (USC?), I don't think it's a given they are automatically in the playoff conversation. Guys like Dabo, Day, maybe even Riley, have passed him. While the record didn't indicate it, I really think Ohio State was on a negative trajectory for the last few years. They weren't on the same level as the playoff teams.

I think Saban overestimated the value of the whole analyst experiment. He hasn't added much value to his coaching staff and if it weren't for far and away the best passing game Alabama's ever had, then this team would be a normal good SEC team, like Auburn or Florida. That being said, this defense is ridiculously young. In a year or two, it could be filthy so I wouldn't call it quits on the dynasty just yet. However, having Butch Jones around your program is always a bad idea

The old Canard about Oregon not being a big enough market Is an excuse to stay safely at home.
As the losing Mich. Coach said. "Autzen was the most intimidating stadium we've ever played". S.I. said Autzen is where great teams come to die. A top SEC team coming to Autzen would be one of the highest rated games of the season. 2. Oregon IS playing big boy football w an emphasis on recruiting top rated recruits - mostly Line play. 3. I have no idea how good Oregon is this year, it's a different brand of ball. Cristobal wants to dominate up front. It is shocking / plodding, for an old Duck fan. |

Definitely going to be a ground game for the Ducks. Soon-to-be Redshirt Sophmore QB Tyler Shough will have seen very little playtime between now and next season. I'll be headed home for the game, looking forward to meeting OSU fans while I'm there.

Like Bama - it's not really tough being an Ohio State fan is it. 1. FAU 2. Cincinnati 3. Miami [of ohio] Ohio state should be favored by 17+ so I imagine you'll be OK. PS: By Big Boy football - I mean that is what Cristobal wants to bring to Oregon as he was Bamas Line coach. Lots of people try "Big Boy football" like the bottom half of the Big Ten and it is boring as hell. I prefer the hunh Blur with quicker athletes. PPS: If you watched Utah pound the hell out of yoocla - 52-3. That was big boy FB. Like Urban said "Utah is a final four team". Last edited by Persius88; 11-17-2019 at 12:16 AM. |

First off, I don't think Mac Jones gets them past Auburn, but if there are three or four 1-loss teams, and Alabama's best win is an 8-4 Auburn that likely won't be ranked in the last poll, and they limp to 11-1, I doubt they get picked over a 1-loss Pac-12 champion, or the Big 12 champion without their Heisman candidate.

I watched a bit of the Raven/Texans game .... Its well documented that I dont like professional football but ... gun to my head, I would call myself a Ravens fan since I live near Baltimore and what who else am I going to pull for locally? the Redskins? LOL He had Florida at #5 in related news ........ ESPN has finally come around https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...champion-again and to this I say SCREW YOU ESPN! The bandwagon is full. Yes I want another National Title for my own selfish reasons, but I also want to win one just to watch Dabo savagely destroy all the national talking heads who blasted Clemson in September |

But nothing to worry about, Ohio State has rock solid home and homes for the next decade plus. Oregon, Notre Dame, Washington, Texas, Boston College and Georgia are currently scheduled over the next 10 or so years. |

I personally think that OSU ends up #1 in the final poll (if they win out). They will finish the year playing 3 ranked opponents (PSU, Michigan, and the West winner) Sooooooooo fun question ..... the semi games the Fiesta Bowl and the Chicken Bowl in Atlanta. IF OSU is #1 and #4 is a Pac 12 team, does OSU play in Atlanta? if OSU is #1 and a SEC team backdoors in at #4 do they play in the Fiesta? I know it doesnt work this way, BUT if Clemson and LSU are #2 and 3 ..... seems weird the CFP would ship them out to Arizona. |

Now if the Buckeyes can choose, Phoenix may actually make a lot more sense. The amount of Buckeye alumni, former Ohio residents and Midwest (B1G) transplants in the valley is absolutely insane. Ohio State travels super well so they will have more fans in any Neutral site location they end up in, but they have a history of having 75% of the stadium un Glendale filled with Buckeye fans. As a Phoenix resident, I'm crossing my fingers the end up here... although 2016 was not an enjoyable evening LOL |

has anyone been following the circus down in Columbia, SC? The University President came out 2 weeks ago and said that Muschamp is his coach and he supports him. Then there was reports in the State paper that several Gamecock Board of Trustee members told the media that they were looking at Muschamp's buyout and then other BOT member saying they couldnt afford the buyout. The the University President, came out and said that wasnt true, but if they were to buyout Muschamp, they could afford it. Then BOT members refuted that saying they have taken on too much debt.
THEN The Greenville News came out yesterday with a story that The University President and the AD called FSU to see how they handled Taggart's buyout. The University President said yesterday afternoon that was a lie, then the Greenville News took to Twitter and said it was in fact true and released audio of the question that was asked and the President's answer where is states they spoke with FSU. THEN late last night the President released on Twitter a clarification and what he asked FSU and that the Greenville News took his answer out of context, but the truth is they did in fact ask FSU how they handled the finances of Taggart's buy out. My goodness ... who wouldve thought there wouldve been a bigger clown show than the Tennessee debacle from a couple of years ago. Its too the point where Clemson fans actually feel sorry for Muschamp .... and just think all this is happening the week before rivalry week where Clemson will probably beat USCjr by 40 LOL I love my rival |

LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia...and Alabama at #5. The loser of the SECCG goes to the Sugar Bowl and Alabama back doors their way into the playoffs at #4. What a surprise.
chris619 dr_wheel Full_Clip thinks the BCS should be brought back. |

Not a chance that happens if Oregon or Utah end the season with 1 loss. The only way the SEC gets 2 teams in is if UGA beats LSU. Even that would be the wrong move. However, another year with 2 SEC teams in a 4 team playoff is one step closer to an 8 team playoff.
