Default What to know before Tuning

Hello, I am bringing my vehicle to Harvey @theboostcreep in Longmont Colorado on November 23rd for a dyno session. My main questions are what all should I do maintenance wise before tune day. And what are reasons a tuner would turn you away? Also if anyone has been tuned by Harvey what was your experience like?

So far I’ve done

New Spark plugs
Fresh oil change
New air filter
New tires
Fixed leak

Is there anything I’m missing or should do on top of that? I’m excited for it but also nervous I want everything to be perfect. Thanks for anyone who has any input.

Call and talk to them and they will explain everything.

Basically, make sure all maintenance is up to date, there are zero leaks (air or fluid), and all known issues are solved. If you're adding mods make sure they are 100% installed with zero issues. Make sure you have a list of exactly what mods are on the car.

Good luck

I know most of the mods done to the vehicle purchased used and got it checked out and everything. I had already contacted Harvey about that though and he said it shouldn’t be an issue as he can look over it before He tunes it. But it sounds like for the most part I’ve got everything done I needed to do so that’s good. Would I know if there is a boost leak? Cars negative boost stays pretty constant that would fluctuate if I was leaking air no? Runs like a champ, I love it.

If you bought the car used with the mods on it then I assume it has a tune as well. Can you monitor the tune through an Accessport or something? Taking a lof of a WOT pull should tell you if there is a leak or anything. If you can monitor fuel trims then that would help. AF Learning should be below 7% when cruising and at 0% when going WOT. Are you able to hit target boost?

Yeah it has a tune but no ap. I’ve had it inspected by a Subaru specialist. I’ve done plenty of self inspection as well. No smoke from anywhere or at idle no oil consumption etc. I bought a ap for my new tune but I can’t data log with it as it’s not married and marrying it would wipe the tune on it. This is why I’m bringing it to a tuner so I can do things such as data log and keep track of the health of the vehicle. I’ve only had the vehicle 4 months, scheduling the tune was my first priority. Tune on it runs great though but not enough for me to just be content with not keeping track of everything like you can with an AP

Edit: boost sits at a constant 18-19 psi will peak and hit 20-21 occasionally but I don’t get on it 24/7 I try to take care of it.
