Default Power Steering issue.

I'm having an issue with my power steering and I was hoping to get some input in trying it diagnose it.
I replaced the engine last year and the O ring on the LP hose on the top of the PS pump fell off without me noticing. The result was sucking air into the system. Once I figured out the O-Ring was missing I replaced it and bled the system, which solved the issue. FF to the last month and I've been having more issues. When I'm stationary and turn the wheel hard over to one side it seems the PS labors while getting there, you can tell there is a lot of load on the engine and the pump starts to whine, the pump will continue to whine for a little while after that but it eventually returns to normal until the next time I need a large amount of steering angle while stopped. On Sunday while I had my car on a hoist to swap to my winters, I popped the cap off the the PS reservoir and bled the system to see if I could spot any air, which I could not. I then started the engine with the car still in the air and the second I tired to move the wheel the whole system started to osculate I had to hold the steering wheel or wheels firmly to get it to stop. It doesn't seem to do this on the ground, probably because the weight of the vehicle is arresting the oscillation.

My feeling the the PS pump has gone bad, but power steering system are not my forte. Any input would be appreciated.

Cheers

You probably need an new ps pump. I tried to limp along with a leaky o ring for a while and it ultimately beat the pump up too much. As I understand it, the pump cooling and lubrication is disrupted by air pockets and over time destroys the pump. A new pump fixed it. Until that o-ring goes bad again. Terrible design.
