Sport Grille
Which sport grille did you buy? I bought the cheap eBay one for around $50 and was very unsatisfied with it. It was just overall cheap and tacky.
I recently bought an STI grill and like it a lot more! I have a white 2008 2.5i non-premium. I have installed the Sti grille, factory fogs, some 205/50R15 tires on OZ racing 7spokes with 2" hubcentric wheel spacers and universal bolt on fender flares, an STI spoiler, DC sport angled exhaust, blacked out berger panel, mud flaps, off-road hella lights and have a CS style front lip scheduled to be delivered tomorrow! Wish I knew how to post pics. Quote:

Can you guys tell about what suspension mods you've gotten and whether or not some were more compelling than others? I want to upgrade my suspension past a rear sway bar and endlinks, but I don't know where I want to start.

Hi guys, I'm a first time car owner and it's a Subaru! I joined the forums a decade ago but never thought I'd get to actually own a Subaru, expected to own a typical compact sedan like the Civic, Corolla or the Mazda 3.
Bought just a few days ago. 2011 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Touring 5dr. I'm pretty much stock right now apart from a k&n exhaust and a borla exhaust from the previous owner, but I'm looking to do handling upgrades like struts and lowering springs, rear sway bar, endlinks, bushings, brake pads, and wheels and tires. I am thinking of changing wheels first and have settled on the Konig Dekagrams in 17"s because tires will be slightly more affordable in the long run. These wheels come in 2 sizes for 17's, either 17x8 or 17x9 and both of them run in 40mm offsets. Any suggestions which one I should get and which size tire I should run? My stock tire size are 205/55/R16 and I would probably run a 225/45/R17 or a 245/40/R17 according to tire calculators for similar tires. Looking for a modest 1" drop without rubbing or scraping and possibly without rolling my fenders. Also what hub centric rings should I run? I'm still slowly going through the 700+ pages in this thread so may not have encountered an answer yet, but will appreciate any help offered. |

Those are not stock wheels and tires. Look at them and what does tire say size is?
To me they look like either 17x7 or 17x8 wheels with 225-45-17 tires already. I wouldn't do 9" wheels, I'd stick with 8", but that's me, I don't think 9" will fit especially with a drop but maybe depends on offset and brand.. |

I have 18"s currently mounted on 225/40/R18 but I don't know exactly how wide the wheels are or the offset. I thought it would be better to reference the stock wheel and go from there.

I'm running 235/35R18 on a 18x7.5 with a 45mm offset. They are right at the edge of the inside fender lip. This is on a 09 sedan. Also running Koni struts with H&R lowering springs.

Third gear
Quote:
I have had this car to Subaru certified dealership multiple times for my 3rd gear. Bought new. It pops right out of third, or sometimes will grind when sending the shifter to 3rd gear position. Total bummer. Would LOVE to figure it out. My fear is however that it’s a bad synchronizer, and one that has been faulty since the day it was bought. And I guess I didn’t have the skill to get and dealership to take care of it for me. So basically: I agree. But overall - I do like the car. |

It's crazy how the look of your car changes drastically with just a wheel swap...

Been two months since I've got my car, and I just got new wheels and tires too!
Followed the advice and went with a more conservative setup. 17x8 40mm offset with 225/45R17 tires. This is on complete stock suspension, and the front of the car is a little higher than I'd like. Will probably drop just the front by an inch next spring, and probably get a lip....though I don't see any more bayson R STi lips on ebay that people were running years ago. |

New Subie owner/advice for first modifications
Howdy. I recently got a 2008 Subaru Impreza Sport (bone stock) and I was wanting to see what modifications I should begin to build off of. I have some basic experience under the hood (and wheel wells) and was wondering what I should start off with. Ive seen that suspension should be the first thing I work on, so maybe some advice on where to start? I was also interested in exhaust systems (not too worried about adding power {no desire to add forced induction} but are there other tried and true parts to swap out under the hood? much appreciated

a whiteline FSB for a N/A 08 Impreza? I'm also in need of some endlinks.

Yep. I don't think I have endlinks for it.
I'll double check my pile of bars. I'm pretty sure it's still there. EDIT: I do have it. Sent a PM. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 11-12-2019 at 11:31 AM. |

08 2.5i
Love mine. Shifter rattles when accelerating for some reason tho, and I cracked the heads threading in the oil pressure switch. New heads on the way!
