Default Adding Hood Struts

Tired of my janky hood prop. Has anyone added gas struts to their impreza? Seems simple but I couldn't find anything with Google or searching here.

I made some brackets for my 2002 forester. I used aluminum angle bracket 1/8" thick, drilled out holes to match the 2 bolts on the hood hinge, then drilled a hole on the side for the strut to mount in. Once you prop the hood up in the proper location, you'll be able to tell where you need to drill in the fender seam to bolt the end of the strut in place. Here's a pic on the net of what mine looks like (not mine, but the same).

Why do you want hood struts? Want it to open more upright?

Move it to the lower hole in the hood which will have the hood more upright, or relocate the base of the prop into the hole/arch (that seemingly odd placed tab with a hole in it on the pass side strut tower.) It just pops right out.

FYI, newer models don't have that tab, but have an actual hole in the strut tower, for the same purpose of relocating the support.
