I say this every time before i paint correct a family members car. 3-4 hours later my back is killing me and I just want to lay down and die. You really need to be in great shape for all the bending and squatting that needs to be done.

People certainly underestimate how much time and energy goes into a full detail.

In you're opinion, what is the best method to detail a car that lives outside? I feel like regards of what I do my car is a magnet for pollen and sap. I don't even park under trees. Is there special wax / ceramic coats that make pollen not stick to cars?

Pollen and sap can etch into the paint if not dealt with in a timely manner. Wax or a coating act as a sacrificial layer. Ceramic coatings will last longer, and make cleaning sap or pollen and other contaminates easier, but will still degrade over time. A good sealant will do the same, to a lesser degree, over time.
Neither will be good if you can't at least wash your car weekly, as it's the build up and caked on stuff that becomes hard to remove. My car is coated and I often alternate a full hand wash to a foam pressure wash as I don't always have time to hand wash. 95% of stuff comes off with the foam dwelling and pressure rinse.

Did you ever get around to the clay bar and polish? If so what did you use for that?

I just bought an 06 STi and while the paint is in good condition it definitely needs a good polish. So far I have been using chemical guys clay bar kit, and an HF DA polisher with chemical guys hex pads and meguirs compound. Just looking for some other suggestions on product to try.

Looks awesome!

I love taking the first drive after a fresh detailing but when that first noticeable dust speck shows up it just cuts me down inside

It sure looks clean, and this blue is vivid! After having my Outback which was blue-green, I went for a blue Impreza (I think it's technically "blue island pearl" or something like that). I like seeing colorful cars out there.

Been detailing cars since I was 14, used MANY different products. Some y'all may think I'm crazy, but Meguiars Cleaner Wax is still one of my favorites. With a medium cutting pad, you can get a gentle cut and a really nice finish. Just doesn't last longer than a couple washes....

the affect you are really getting from that "cleaner wax" , is just from its fillers, thats why it only lasts a few weeks. it is not really doing much if any polishing.
