Weird 08 temp issuep
My 08 2.5i has been having a weird temp issue lately. I thought I resolved it after replacing the thermostat and bleeding the cooling system yesterday (idled for over half an hour and never got above 190). Everything was fine on my drive home (from my parents) until I pulled off the interstate. Temp shot up from 199 to over 235 in the 4.5 mile drive from the interstate to home.
Before the thermostat swap it would actually reach over 210 just idling. Last summer it got head gaskets, head bolts, new gates water pump, timing belt, idlers, tensioner and thermostat. It appears to be pushing coolant out the radiator cap or the overflow tank cap. I can't smell any coolant in the exhaust, oil looks fine with just normal consumption. Should I break down and do a coo k ant combustion gas check and prepare myself to do the head gaskets again? Along with finding a machine shop to mill the heads?

I would say check coolant level after its cooled down...probably just air in the system, but also check fan operation, should be blowing pretty hard with temps like that...
