So I bit the bullet and I am going to try the ceramic coating, went with this stuff:

I know someone said something about throwing out the cloths after use, is this the applicator cloths or the cloths im using to wipe it off?

For application am I doing 1 cloth for each panel?

Check the dates on everything from there. I just shipped an order back as half the chemicals were within 60 days of expiration and I don't go through them super quickly.

You can wash and reuse towels you use to wipe essence.
Some have washed and reused towels used to wipe cquartz, but not sure I'd risk it. At least not for paint duty. If you decide to wash have a bucket ready with some APC and detergent and put the towels in as soon as you use them.
Application towels should be tossed.
Some people have found carpro 2 face towels better for leveling than seude towels. I got some to compare myself.

Also, you will likely want more than one pad for the whole car, and unless it needs a bit of correction your pad selection might be a bit on the heavy side.

I’ll keep a lookout for the dates, but couldn’t pass on the 25% off.

Any pad under those said there was not cutting ability, those seemed to be the lightest and then they went to wax application.

It’s mostly light swirls.

If I were to miss any of the swirls for some reason does the ceramic coating lock the swirl in? Or if I chose to can I go back next year and polish and cquartz again? This crap still scares me a bit, I’m old school.

I did the same. Ordered at 25% off to refresh my gear as my 19 wrx limited's ETA is end of the month. They sent stuff that had been sitting on their shelves over a year and a half. I sent most of my order back and am waiting for the refund now.
I ordered the rest of the stuff I needed from carpro-us who always have great service so check them out.

If you don't get all the swirls out and you apply cquartz over top you will have to remove the coating to do it again, so prep is important. However, you always want to use the least aggressive method to begin with, so start with a finishing pad and see, move to a light polishing pad and so forth. Since you only ordered medium and heavier cut pads, I just didn't want you taking off more than needed.

Based on their descriptions, i thought I was on the low end of abrasiveness?
Are you saying to get a black one or a blue one in addition to the ones i got?

Sorry for the delay, just saw this. Yes, I would say get a finishing or jewling pad. Check out the carpro-us site. Pad selection recommendations for essence are either microfiber, or carpro gloss finishing pad or Scholl concepts honey finishing pad. The honey pad is firm like a light polishing pad, but can finish like a finishing pad.
If you have lots of swirls you will likely want to do a 2 step. Either essence twice, first with a polishing pad and second with a jeweling pad, or something with a bit more cut followed by essence with a finishing/jeweling pad

A finishing pad and a jeweling pad are different things. LC makes both. Don't buy the gold jewel pad. Just get a black finishing pad. You can do nearly everything with LC orange, white, and black pads. You'll use the white pad the most as that, with a light or medium compound, will take out swirls. The orange with the same compound will handle most small scratches. Black with a finishing polish is all you need to make it shine. Of course this is a matter of desire. For a lot of folks a white pad with the same finishing compound is more than enough shine.

I've not used CP Essence, but the description reads as a final-step compound. It's a finish polish with fillers and prep for a ceramic topper. I don't know if it has enough cutting power on a coarser pad to actually remove swirls. Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover, Menzerna 2500, or Rupes Quarz will work better on swirls and light scratches.

I wound up picking up a LC blue pad prior to your responses. The car is a month old so it is mostly very light swirls from drying with a MF towel.

I will give the essence a shot first and if i need something more abrasive I have Meguiars 105 and 205, which have worked well in the past.

So my only other question is if I want do the ceramic coating now and say 2 years from now i want to do it again, do i have to remove the current CC with a heavy cutting pad prior to doing it again or just do the regular correction/polish and coating?

Normal cutting compounds and foam or microfiber pads lack the abrasives necessary to remove a ceramic coating. It's glass. It is not semi-flexible urethane clearcoat. It generally requires sand paper to remove ceramic if you want it gone prior to its own normal degradation and erosion. When you want to reapply, just clean up like you normally would and go over the top. Most of them can be layered. That's how the "pro" level applications get to 10 years of protection. They do 5 or 6 layers of ceramic.

Yes, in 2-3 years if you want to reapply you would need to polish to remove the coating.
Carpro now has Essence Plus which is a light polish and filler meant to repair damaged coatings. I have no first hand experience, but this theoretically could be used instead to extend the life of the coating another year or two. Either ways, you will be using a polisher again.

Ok, I think I’m set. Any tips on removing adhesive residue before I do this? Looks like there is some on the hood where the clear plastic was prior to delivery.

Try quick detailer. Should lubricate enough to let you rub the residue off with the towel. If that doesn't work hit it with a clay bar or try an isopropyl alcohol dilution (IPA wipe). If you're going to polish everything prior to coating any little marring induced by rubbing or claying is going to get buffed out.

Tar x or any bug and tar remover from your local automotive store will work. Tar x works better, but I've used turtle was bug and tar remover in the past with good results.

So uh yeah, still haven't done this yet.

Shooting for this Friday.

Here is the plan:

Shoot with foam gun wash, power wash

Get rid of dead bugs with TarX

Power wash rinse

Iron X the entire car (i assume i just spray this crap on wait 5 min then power wash it off?)

Clay bar (Do I really need to do this if im using IronX?) What is the "I need to clay bar" test?

Power wash rinse

Dry, and blow excess ware out of crack with leaf blower.

Polish with porta cable

CP Eraser

Ceramic coat

Reload

That about right?

When you say power wash, I hope you mean contact wash as a pressure washer and foam cannon will not properly clean a car, especially once you have clay barred.

It's a pretty simple process, and if you want a good how to video look up PanTheOrganizer cermanic coating and he goes through all of the steps.

Regarding Essense, you do not use Eraser or a IPA solution afterwards/before coating it leaves a primer layer behind that would be removed. I recommend using it before Essence.
