Side note, the courtesy cars windscreen cracked during my time with it and the dealer is trying to get $1000 out of me for the repair. This is going to suck!!
WTF is up with Subaru Canada and getting TSB things done. Someone’s bonus must be tied to this metric. Damn near impossible for me to get a new TOB under a TSB along with getting the updated battery charging logic ECU programming. I get it, good profit to be made trying to get people to pay for a new battery every 2 years, but come on. No dice for me for getting it done under warranty. Useless support.

Glad your pitch stop mount got covered. Sucks about the cracked windshield though, hope it got sorted out

Perrin Brace and Group N Pitch stop installed over the weekend, little to no NVH added.

Not a hard job if you have a buddy help out when bleeding the clutch line.

So just wondering, anyone out there who added the Perrin pitchstop brace ever have the older 2015-2016 brace crack after the install? I have a 2016 WRX and just wondering if i should install the brace. Canadian model so i don't think the U.S. recall will protect me.

I was pushing near 500whp no issues on that brace.. yet I did have all other mounts changed to hard / solid, and thus I probably dont get as much movement as if you just have a solid pitch stop along with that brace.. (tubular trans solid hook up, hard poly motor mounts, fluidampr pulley, etc..) I would not recommend running any brace if your firewall is cracked.. get it fixed, then run the brace. If the brace has broken, I would reach out to Perrin ( they have great customer service ) good luck

15 WRX with 101k miles. Mines still good, installed the Perrin brace really early on... maybe around 20k miles, don't remember too well, I think I wrote it down in a log somewhere.

So I recently bought a 2015 WRX, according to carfax there are no open recalls...is there any way to verify this was done? Looking back at the service history there's nothing about a TSB being performed.

A TSB is not a recall. It is if you are having a problem, it will be fixed with an updated part to prevent further issues.

I believe there have only been 2 recalls on the 2015 WRX. One is related to an ECU reprogram to an updated version and the second is related to replacing the plastic turbo inlet due to cracking. These are both set to certain production dates. I happened to be lucky and my car fell in the middle of the 2 and had no recalls at all associated with it.

Thanks for the clarification. Guess I'll take off the TMIC soon and take a looksee at the area.

Default I just replaced mine.

So it is a very expensive task if your car is over 60k I believe it was. That is the cut off for the warranty recall through Subaru.

if you are over the cut off the cheapest option is the route I went. purchase the new bracket, then remove the engine and transmission yourself, super easy if you have all the right equipment, have the car towed to the body shop of your choice, and have them weld on the new one. they are going to try to tell you that it should be pinch welded and that you should remove the dash and everything else. my body shop just drilled the appropriate holed and filled the holes by means of I believe it was Mig welding. I purchased all new mounts, engine, and transmission, also I ordered the pitch stop brace. The problem is fixed and actually runs much smoother with all of the new mounts. for those wondering, I went with Perrin performance for all mounts.

Check the stock part really good before install to make sure it isnt already damaged...if so do it!

I have a 2016 that I bought new, and installed the mount back in early 2017 and its doing great.

Just so everyone knows if it is damaged. You have to get it fixed before installing the brace. The brace is not designed to take on the full pitching force and will fail over time. If it is not damaged already then install the brace. The brace was designed only to brace the pitchstop bracket mounted to the fire wall and mitigate firewall flex.

The recall was for certain cars made it is by vin not by where the car was sold if you are under the milage. I believe it was 80k then they should honor it. if not call subaru corporate.

I always update this thread and figured I'd add it here for reference just in case anyone would need it. This is for CVT WRX owners.

My insurance came through for the courtesy car windshield thankfully, dodged a $1000 bullet lol

well, just read thru this entire thread only to realize it doesn't concern me as my 2017 was made several months after they fixed the bracket.

Just did the same thing. I recently got a 21 and am planning out my mods. Anyone currently run a pitch stop without the brace on a 18+ without any issues? From what I’ve read it seems like the brace would be overkill and more just a peace of mind/preventive measure.
