Default Aluminati EJ TGV Deletes

Was considering Aluminati TGV Deletes as a possibility. However there was little info out there besides the development thread. So here we go...
Specifically the TGV Deletes Aluminati markets as "EJ TGV Deletes" that have both upper and lower o-ring seals*.
*Note they also have "EJ TGV Deletes 2008-2014 WRX" which are identical in every way except no o-ring seal on the upper to support the plastic intake manifold which already has an o-ring seal built into it.

Sourcing/Price: It is what it is.
Pro - These are a bit spendy compared to other brand TGV Deletes out there. It was Aluminati's features that interested me enough to invest a bit more.

Moot - Purchased these myself. I actually already had OEM ported TGV Delete Housings ready for my project but was always wanting a bit more than those had to offer. These might only be available from Matt (Aluminati) himself, which is fine since I like to support small business.

Con - None so far.

Packaging:
Pro - Thankfully they ship in a plain box that does not clue the world into what might be inside. The actual kit box is also simple. The hardware are all in nice part bags. There are some stickers included +5hp.

Con - None so far.

Details:
Pro - The matte black anodized finish outer/inner is great. The main advantage is the o-ring seal, since I've always hated Subaru's flat gaskets. Good o-ring seal paths and nice seal extraction pockets added. The upper and lower flanges are surfaced after anodizing to promote improved ground path. While one to could this at home themselves, being already done is great. The outer bolting has been changed from long design to short design. This opens up more room for a stock location turbo intake as compared to some of the other TGV deletes I looked at. The inner bolting feature nicely accommodates many intake manifold variations without needing to slot any holes. O-rings are all black Viton and standard sizes for ease of finding replacements. Hardware is all A2 stainless.

Moot - No provisions for Green Brackets of Death (GBOD) but most are unlikely to reinstall those anyways.

Con - The leading edge of the injector pockets are very sharp. I shaved a few inj o-rings while mock fitting parts. Even being extremely careful it is all to easy to damage the o-rings. Adding a fillet or slight bore taper here will help avoid this situation. There is no threaded boss for the RHS fuel pipe tab, so if you are using with OEM fuel pipes this will be hanging out there unsupported unless you come up with an alternative bracket yourself.
*Matt later evolved the injector pockets based on this feedback.

Installation: Keep in mind I am installing into a 2006 WRX with single AVCS, aftermarket fuel rails with FPDs, ID injectors (fitted a few types and OEM inj), AN fuel lines in series, and an OEM intake manifold.
Pro - They mostly fit as do other TGV Housings....with an exception on my engine.

Moot - These will not accommodate the 25i short runner intake manifolds without slotting the fore and aft bolt holes of the intake manifold. To be fair no WRX based TGV housing will accommodate that I/M without slotting.

Con - These will not clear the RHS AVCS pipe on engines using the separate AVCS/turbo oil supply pipes (i.e. 06-07 WRX and probably some Foresters). These housings interfere with the AVCS pipe mounting tab on the cyl head and does not allow the TGV mounting holes to align with the bolt holes in the cyl head. Removing material from either the AVCS pipe mounting tab or the TGV delete housing will be needed. Engines that use the combined RHS turbo/AVCS pipe routes in a different manner and should not interfere. Some material removed from the housings in this specific area (on at least one of the housings) would be helpful. I still need to get some better photos of this.
*Matt later evolved the profile on the housings based on this feedback.

These just barely clear Radium FPD-R's (I expect FPD-XRs will also have this interference potential) in Radium rails used with the short phenolic spacers. The material between the fuel rail mounting points and just under the rails take up more space then OEM housings. The clearance is so close and need careful inspection.
Any interference contact here would need to be avoided.
If one was not afraid to self-remove some material from here it would work well and not really be visible after assembly. Some material removed from the housings in this area during machining would be helpful.
-Radium short spacers plus washers will clear. If you have recent ID injectors and/or AVCS cyl heads you are going to be using at least Radium short spacers with the extra washers.
-Radium long spacers will clear. I am not certain what parts combo would actually use Radium's long spacers though.

Support:
Pro - Matt's enthusiasm certainly influences his effing fantastic customer support. He puts up well with my litany of questions.

Con - None so far.

Still a bit of work in progress since I am not finished with complete project. I will update but decided to start the review thread to share what I have so far and maintain motivation to finish the review. Will add photos later and as I go...

If you could not tell already I will bluntly call it as it is. I could give two poops about pandering to a MFR, vendor, forum-popular idea, or the forum itself. I want useful information to select parts from instead of having to buy multiples, select based on assumptions, or having to modify parts that should work as-is dang it. So that is what I strive to provide.

I will improve the design on this next round.

Just to be clear...these are the only TGV delete housings I will use going forward. It's the o-ring top and bottom seals that ensure this.

-Injector bore edge -> add just enough, the bores are shallow so too much taper/radius might leak if the injector was to lift, not much of a concern but worth noting.
-AVCS clearance -> yes please, I would add to both sides so one housing work on LHS or RHS, this would increase applicability.
-FPD clearance -> some extra room would be a bonus, I think the number of users needing this is low, Radium short spacers will need ever so material removed here, Radium short + washers or Radium long spacers will not need material removed.
-RHS fuel line mount -> I do not think it's worth adding this, most would be moving to aftermarket fuel lines anyways, if one wasusing oem lines I think a bracket rigged up to the Int Manifold tab would work.

Made some mods on the design.

Beveled back edge to clear AVCS and put .031" radius on injector bore.

I'll be making 19mm billet spacers to clear AVCS next week. O-ring sealed. No stupid gaskets.

Changes look good.
If you want a test fit to confirm the AVCS I can probably do that quickly with a proto and send back to you. Let me know.

EJ TGV Delete material to come soon. Making 19mm NA and JDM Manifold Spacers in the meantime. O-rings!! no gaskets.

Waiting for Matt to start my vendor account again. Will post more pictures then.

Hopefully you guys are still active!

I'm building a new engine and considering radium fuel rails similar to what JarHarms is doing.

I've been debating which TGV deletes to buy and stumbled on this thread.

Aluminati, do you happen to have a different part number for the revised design?

Where can I purchase the new design?

Thanks,
Tony

Hi Tony!

We've updated all the TGVs we sell. They are listed on our site www.aluminati.us

Currently sold out and hope to have more in stock in October.

Thanks!

Matt
