I'm going to Outback(or Legacy. They haven't specified) training on the 18th in Dallas.

Nice, enjoy testing the turbo engine and kicking the wagon body through those corners. I hope they have the legacy sport at training. inform us of your experience.

If they have both cars, then I can see some sort of "power" demo with the LXT. OBXT will likely be demonstrating it's offroad prowess and likely the Lane Centering feature.

I agree with them having the power demo for the LXT. they might also have an onyx edition to demonstrate the dual x-mode feature on the outbacks

If you get a few hours where you can have the thing to yourself I can provide you a route to take (twisties) that's 45 minutes from downtown. But it'll be conditional. You tell anyone where these roads are, the routes, etc, you'll get whacked.

Wouldn't that be nice. No, they rush us through training nowadays. And they are quite touchy when it comes to prepros. I am really hoping for an "autocross" course for sure.

Hey Justy or anyone else who have seen the XT, was wondering if VDC is defeatable via a dash button or any other means. Also, is there neon green stitching on the dash of the Onyx trim? And how has this thread not been active since May?

I have no doubt it's defeatable; but, can't say for 100% at this point; HOWEVER, whatever can be done is done in the head unit. No hard button to disengage VDC.

The green stitching is on the lower part of the dash and gray on the upper part. A bit weird to me.

The dealers near me have the XTs and Onyx XTs "In Transit". Last I checked it's a month out when they have that label.

Subaru put that into the websites back when they were having SERIOUS inventory issues. They used to not show at all; but, they didn't want an "empty" inventory on the websites. It can range up to a month; but, around here, that would be rare to be that far out. We got several almost a week ago. They are coming.

Good question. All day yesterday and we still haven't seen anything about it yet. I don't have access to service stuff either. I'll see if I can get any info from them.

Yeah, I found out the TechTips Newsletter I posted above was just the standard new model newsletter.

The one for the brake pedal is:

Fair review by Doug as he knows the people that buy these aren't looking for flashy and he wasn't overly hard on it for being boring. The one thing that stuck out for me is how slow the screen is to respond when he was moving the map around as that's pretty awful. I sure hope that they can improve on that with updates.

I HATE the nav. It is still TomTom; but, they took a step back in voice functionality and 2 steps back in map functionality. Or I haven't figured it out yet. I just know I don't like it right now

I've watched a lot of Doug videos, and that screen in the new Outback has gotta be one of the worst ones in a brand new car I've seen on his show. I'm surprised he didn't knock it harder, it just seemed pretty lacking overall in tech compared to the competition. From the center gauge cluster to the integrated big screen in the middle, it just seemed "mid 2010s" in terms of styling and functionality.

It really isn't a price issue either, you can get much more technologically advanced cars in the same price category/segment. Once again, Subaru took the super conservative route with this which is disappointing.

Subaru is ALWAYS lagging behind everyone else in the heads it area. Some things never change. Pretty bad when my buddy's cheapo 2018 Ford Ranger's headunit actually blew me away in terms of responsiveness/performance. I was expecting crap.

Sadly, Toyota is behind Subaru in Head/Tech area. I've been looking to see if I want a 4runner but only the 2020 has Android Auto/Car Play. Heck, the 2020 Lexus GX 460 has a ****ty head unit.

That light in the side view mirror is an approach light that makes one aware of puddles. Otherwise known as a "puddle light". I added it as an extra option for my Impreza.

I took some pics of the Outback XT yesterday. I like everything about it except the lower half with the plastic cladding.

I also got a loaner 2019 Legacy 3.6 R Limited. I love everything about it except for the lack of a 5th door.

After sitting in one today, I don't like all the gloss black around the shifter and the screen... It looks and feels cheap, not to mention finger prints.

Japanese in general lag the rest of the industry when it comes to infotainment systems. It's not like Honda systems are great as the one in the Civic is maybe the worst in the industry.
