OMGHi2U Should i build another WRX truck/ute ?

So I am trying to decide if i should build another Wrx ute?
Long story short: I built a 02 wrx ute in 2018. It was awesome we did alot of stuff and things. I loved it other ppl loved it.
Then it got totaled while i was deployed.

So i bought Wagon shell & put everything from the ute into it. Engine trans, suspension, wheels & all the aftermarket parts.

It was a crap ton of work. Took about 4 months.
Do you guys think i should do it again? chop this one up as well?
or keep it a wagon?

Buy and build a baja?

I don't think anyone's opinion will sway you one way or the other. In the end, it's your time and effort to build another one.

Definitely a rad build...but do you think it's worth the effort? The wagon will always be worth more in stock form, and your "ute" was only valuable to you. Build what you want if you decide it's worth the effort and keep it for years. You could also leave it stock if you plan on upgrading or trading it in at a later time. Wagons are awesome.

I think the Baja are kinda ugly (but can look cool with alot of work)
plus they a kinda useless as far as storage goes. Im sure i can fit alot more stuff in the wagon then i could in a baja.

Its Value doesn't really play to much of a factor since these cars are getting dirt cheap.
But you are 100% right it is up to me i guess im just curious if the ppl would even want to see another one.

I think it's cool because no one else will have one and it'll be made with you own hands.

I watched you're entire YouTube build series a while ago, I would seriously like to do this myself once I have the garage space. I say go for it

I want to do this on a different car but I guess my question is how do you keep this thing from filling up with water when it rains? I assume pick ups have some sort of pitch to the bed to drain the water. How do you tackle this problem? Cool videos I would watch again.

Thanks. There is a guy who did one on his old legacy in a lil temporary pop up garage. not ideal but doable.

Making this thing Water tight was probably one of must challenging parts.
But i just made alot of drain holes at all the low spots and used alot of waterproof sealant everywhere i could.
Also when it wasnt under cover i would park it slightly up hill so must of any water would drain out of the spare tire well.

In my head I'm thinking maybe some seal sealer and spray on bed liner would probably help especially when you did the bed panels in multiple pieces. Do you have plans to make the area around the spare tire flat so water doesn't pool up there?

The water didnt really pool up. it just ran down into the cracks & holes down into the spare tire where there was a good size drain hole.

It’s pretty cool and if I had the time, money and ability, I’d probably try something like this. I do wonder though... is there a better way of keeping the strut towers from collapsing without having a brace between them? Just thinking about keeping the most available space

Believe it or not it wasn't very expensive to do. I probably have less then $900 in material.

The strut brace wasn't necessary & i didn't use it all the time. It wasn't there for any structural integrity. Just a lil extra stiffness because i did track the car. The cage was there to help keep the cars integrity. And did a damn good job considering the car rolled over & it still looks straight.

I say do it again. First time I've seen one and it's dope af. Ever thought about making it into a prerunner? Would be one of the most unique builds out there. How did you roll it? Most aussies I've talked to have said utes are fairly prone to rolling, citing the body and suspension design.

My wife slid into a tree and rolled it. A prerunner would be super cool but i am on the wrong side of the country for that.

Subarus are going to be the death of me.
Was on my way to a Rallycross event & drove through about 3 or 4 in of water & hydro-locked my motor. Kids just say No to Cold air intakes!
