Default Normal oil pressure readings

Hey guys, I've recently installed a Defi oil pressure gauge on my 03 wrx and I've been getting conflicting info on the inter webs (surprise) about what it should read.

For reference I hooked it up under the alternator as I read it was the best place although the Defi manual said to not place it by the oil pump so that might be stupid of me.

Either way, I'm running 5w30 it's roughly 50F outside, the gauge reads roughly 100psi at cold start, will hit 100+ while hitting the gas. After driving for 20mins going 50mph at 2.5k it's at 80ish psi still.

At idle it's at 30psi+ warmed up. In 2nd at 2k it's at 65-70psi, 2.5K near 80psi, 3k 82 but seems to drastically slow as I climb.

Is this what should be excepted?

Thanks in advance.

Normal
I’ve got a newer 11mm pump on the same ej205.

90+ cold
65-75 hot above 1500
25-30 idle hot

You’re not looking for an increase above 2000, as long as its above min spec 50 off idle, you’re fine.

What you don’t want are pressure dips or below 15 at idle.

Auto-x at stock idle setting or really beating on it the oil can become too thin, hence running a thicker oil, also bumping the idle with an accessport will help Keep the pressure up.

That's normal.

The rate climbs rapidly, then then slows as the bypass starts to operate.

The important thing to watch is hot idle. The factory minimum spec is 14psi.

Here's a vid on a built 2012 STi, so it's not going to be the same, but it will give you an idea.
