Just pulled my engine apart, checked ICL and ECL. Cam gears are still working fine.

Have you guys used these already? They are more expensive than the OBX but far cheaper than Jun it seems.

^^^Brian didn't have them when I ordered mine.
I too wish I had seen this thread before purchasing my OBX cam gears. Regardless, I'm right there with everyone else. I guess we get what we paid for. Last edited by Homemade WRX; 04-14-2009 at 04:47 PM. |

OBX makes some really hurt stuff. Not sure but these cam gears sound just like the collapsing inlet my buddy tried out.

I've wanted to play around with cam timing, even though I've got an SOHC motor. Being able to advance/retard both INT/EXH relative to the pistons should result in some changes. Do adjustable cams for the SOHC exist?

I think it was TWE who first started off using the offset pins in the cam gears to adjust timing...it would work for a SOHC setup.

old thread, but... bought a set from walmart. 57 bucks. STILL don't fit cam gears and STILL expect hall sensors to see aluminum triggers. AND the triggers are all over the back of the EXHAUST cam gear EXCEPT where the trigger needs to be. so, after 15 years, no attempt is being made to make this pretty but worthless pile of crap usable. and i now see them for 28 bucks a set on walmart. at that price, if you have a machine shop, might be worth a gamble.
