Playing devil's advocate for the sheer pleasure of making a statement is what lawyers do to bleed their opponents dry. If you are going to do it in this forum, at least have something worthy to say to fortify your argument. What you stated above might work to bewilder a thief after he breaks into your car, but it doesn't change the fact that he still thought you had a stock alarm in the first place. Why not try to prevent anything from happening to begin with? Your solution would still have the thief clipping things, pulling this or that out, ripping this off, etc.

/\ I'm not sure that there's any way to "prevent anything from happening to begin with" with any degree of certainty. I'm not playing "devil's advocate" here, I mean it.
Obviously, you could avoid sketchy areas and be extra careful, etc..., and that's good, but if a thief wants to try to steal your car, unless you're watching it 24/7, he'll give it his best shot. I don't think a warn-away is going to stop a determined thief; in fact, if a thief knows his isht and knows what different manufacturers' warn-aways sound like, then congratulations - you've let the thief know what kind of alarm you have, and now he knows what he's up against. |
