Exclamation Emissions SUICIDE code

If your car has an EMISSIONS code, say P0457 Evap leak, the ECU's response is to commit SUICIDE by turning off TRACTION CONTROL in the middle of a major snow storm.

Yep, it immediately went into limp mode with CEL, Traction Control Disabled, flashing Cruise light.

Think about the logic here:

"You may have a loose fuel cap" = "Turn off critical SAFETY feature in the middle of a storm"

Anyone else driving around in the "federally mandated" SUICIDE MODE?

Tongue-in-cheek, but also quite serious.

That’s crazy. I hate traction/stability control in my Impreza at slow speeds. Ruins my fun, even when “off”. But it is useful at speed.
