No flame, more like a caution that that much stretch probably isn't going to be right for everybody. Actually, I've got a bit of autocrossing in my background and am an intermediate-level HPDE driver who has been placed in advanced/instructor run groups a few times.

When it's an A052 that 205 is .1" difference on a 9 vs a 225 BFG Rival. And in 15" sizes there aren't tons of options. You're still missing the point that not all tires are stamped with numbers that show how wide they are, and the "recommended wheel width" on sites like TireRack are mandated sizes, not what the tire actually wants.

You're right about that bit. Someone buying 10.5's and mounting some Indy 500's or Michelin PS4S or something will want to go to a 265-285ish section tire, because those tires don't run wide. If you tried running a 285 A052 or Falken RT660 it'd be pinched.

Regarding your experience, it was already obvious you are someone who enjoys casual motorsports, but doesn't really compete more than the occasional weekend a few times a year. Nothing wrong with that, but it's a very different world vs running 15-25 events a year for almost 15 years now.

As stated, the car with 18x12's is an autox car. The wider the car, the further it has to go around cones. I don't have any more inbound clearance so 13's would just make the car 2" wider total and I don't want that. I already stated how to compensate, so I'm not sure why you're surprised other than you're just not used to someone doing something outside the box.

Personally, this conversation has gone on long enough. 10.5's on a street (non-motorsports) tire can have a 265-305 depending on how narrow the tire actually measures. People who know what they're doing can mount 245 (motorsport) tires without issue.

I have tested them out: gives me all of the performance attributes you need in a track focused wheel. No complaints: only positive experience.
