Hi Free_Refil the Stock WRX enter/view button with manuel camera view feature, would this feature be part of the the WRX MFD as in, part of its firmware programing opposed to how its wired? I have installed factory Side View Camera (power folding mirrors, puddles, SVM) on my XV over here in AU and also tracking a thread on swapping out Upper Central MFD for a WRX version to possibly get tis feature. Question is I want to be able to press ENTER/VIEW to get camera view when I choose, as I only have it set up for when in reverse using my current MFD and its fine but want the official WRX camera guides as Im using standard reverse camera guides on stock XV MFD.

Sorry for the delay. The USDM manual lies. It is not there

I placed an order for this harness from free-refil and received it yesterday. He seems to be a trusted source.

Thanks

I'm alive and well

Apologies to everyone for the lack of communication. I had some personal matters come up that took away all of my focus from this and other projects.

But I'm back to working on it. Hoping to have the 18+ base/premium trim harness mocked up in the coming weeks. Been planning on it for a good while now but life got in the way. As the saying goes, s**t happens.

My inbox is cleared out so if anyone has questions/comments/concerns feel free to reach out.

Hi guys,

i drive a 2020 Subaru Levorg Active (trim similar to limited) which is kind of a wrx stationwagon sold in europe.
I've found a black cable in front of my radiator which seems to be for the front cam.
Why do i need that t-harness? Why couldn't i just plug the cam in the black cable?
Does anyone have the partnumber of the original harness?

Best regards

Chris

Is it this connector that you're referring to? If I remember correctly that's the ambient temperature sensor.

The camera connector if you had it would be located on the bumper beam, see the gray connector in the lower left of this photo:

As for the original harness containing the camera connector from Subaru, I was never able to confirm which part number would contain it, and cost is many hundreds of dollars. Not to mention the disassembly required to remove and replace the entire front harness section. I did look into this thoroughly but given the cost and complexity I ended up going the t-harness route.

Hello!
2018 US Base Model STi owner here! Just learned of the harness you were making for the front view camera and went through this entire forum post to see if you ended up achieving a wiring harness plug n play for the base models?

Very interested!

Thank you!

Holly

If you have an STi it should have the LED steering-responsive headlights meaning it is compatible! Afaik all 2018+ USDM STi models have them.

Base/premium model WRXs with halogen headlights are the ones not compatible.

Has anyone looked into or found the part number for the MFD button that matches the wording on the screen with the front view camera?

Is there a way to use the camera with a aftermarket radio? I’d like to use it with my kenwood dnx997xr.

Have a 15+ with upgraded 18+ bumper & MFD. Is adding a front camera possible?
