Default avo dbw controller

Ok guys

purchased avo drive by wire throttle controller about a week ago. came in with very good directions as well as diagrams for getting it all installed and also diagrams for getting it all installed without using the obd port as the power source.

First impression was upon opening the box everything seemed very well packaged and the box was very sturdy. Made me feel like I purchased a quality item from a company that actually cares about the customers money.

took me about 5 minutes to install and another 5 to follow the directions to get the initial settings figured out. While getting the settings figured out I was surprised by how easy it was and also surprised that it actually to a T did exactly what the instructions said it would. I know alot of electronic goodies can be a PIA because the instructions suck! Not this product though!

First impression upon driving the car was literally HOLY F'N SHAT!!! It completely changed the driving experience of car. No more waiting for the motor to "catch up" to throttle inputs. No more mushy impression of the throttle. I took it through all the economy settings and all the power settings on my first cruise on a nice long strait road so I could get a feel for what it did to the throttle on all the settings at all your normal driving rpm. All I can say is if I had known the difference would have been so BIG this would have been my FIRST mod!!! the throttle is now spot on and inputs are DIRECTLY responsible for change in the speed of the car. No more 4th gear 2500 rpm slowly speeding up or having to guess whether or not its worth it to grab a lower gear! SPOT ON!!!

I would recommend this product to EVERYONE who hates the laggy mushy slow response of the sti DBW system. fantastic product!! Best bang for buck improvement in overall driving experience!

Keep up the good work AVO!!!

Funny i ran across this thread. I just installed one of these in a customers 08 2.5i, took longer to run the wiring under the console and make it pretty than it took to install/program it. I took this little vid earlier, makes a HUGE difference in how the car drives. A+ work on this one for AVO!

Can't you improve the response time of tge stock dbw with accessport? I'm sure you can't change the feel but I thought the reaction speed was adjustable.
Also, let us know if this product has the same issues as the Camry dbw!

So far no issues at all and I change my settings regularly to account for where I'm driving and conditions. As far as changing the response using the accessport yes you can change the throttle values as far as input to output percentages. Input 10% on the pedal for instance can be changed to equal 25% on the throttle body. However it doesn't allow you to change the speed at which the actual signal is sent which is partly what this controller does. The signal sent from the pedal to the throttle body is increase proportionally to the settings on the controller. It does change the input percentages to a point as well. The feeling is still different tho not to mention unlike the accessport it doesn't cost 600$ and is easily removes me without havin to go all the way back to stock tune unlike the accessport.

would it be pointless for someone who has the AP and protune with dbw re-mapped as well?
can they both be used together?

i have turbo lag until i get the 20g-xt installed and tuned in and the sluggish dbw on top of that makes it feel so stupid. i want the gas to touchy as hell. think they can get it there with just the AP and tune?

It's something completely separate from the accessport so yea they can work together.

This would not help with turbo lag but more throttle response.

The AP and the AVO DBW won't work together. That is from COBB. I have a 2006 WRX TR with a stage 2 tune.

I drove my 2002 Impreza non turbo aggressively for over 400,000km's here in Australia and it was driving just as new as when I got it at 200,000kms. After going bumper to bumper in peak hr traffic I had to buy a new one. My 2007 can't handle the way I'd drive my 02' and after some digging it makes so much sense why now! The lag and sluggish delay in throttle up to about 2600 rpm sucks! Pulling out infront of traffic with sluggish slow response is dangerous and makes hills terrible. It made the air box resonator a super loud and grumpy embarrassing sound when it was in this loss of power. After putting a cold air intake in to fix this it made me keep searching for the problem. Well makes sense now. Will have to try this DBW mod. I was researching how to change the maps myself bit this seems a lot easier.
