I still want to know where Subaru/STI came up with the peak torque RPM:

Running straight 91 Cali pump gas at the track, in the summer, is pretty much head gasket suicide . |

They should have just fitted a catless downpipe, tuned it for race gas, and skipped the pretense that it's a real car. It could have been Subaru's answer to the Civic Type R TC racecar.

Yes, but did they swap the downpipe before they tuned?

CN: Import a GC8 with a working engine for a fraction of the price.

The STI is fine. It's still relevant. Double the price and it's not. Audi managed to understand this concept. Making a car have garbage turn radius so that it has good stability on a race track or giving a car a bigger turbo that performs worse on the same gas is the reason every other thread on the S209 is closed.

All I'm saying is for Subaru to still be a performance bargain like they were 10 years ago, they need to up the performance a bit in the next STI and WRX. While keeping price inline with that performance increase....

TTRS has the same hinderances as the RS3: FWD based chassis same engine and auto only and manages a 2:58 at VIR. Far cry from a track car platform? Want to run 9s in your Subaru? What will that take? Stock turbo all day for the RS cars. |

Very true....projections are predicting that gas prices are going to drop to 1.00-1.50 per gallon, in most areas....because of the oil price war and even more so now because of the recession that is starting...that is going to decimate the demand for gasoline, and currently all the close downs limiting stores and schools that are open and thus an influx of less cars traveling. Its the perfect storm for the lowest gas prices upcoming in many decades. I wonder if pump race gas will drop proportionately? I want to try the cobb race gas tune on my 06

I just knocked off a sub 4 second 0-60 in a 20 year old Viper with 107k miles and the only non-OEM power adders are headers and a lightweight flywheel. Burned through the 1320ft in 1.5 seconds less. Why is this relevant? Because it's currently for sale at half the price of the S209.
