While not required, isn't ethanol-free gas better to put in the tank for storage as well as stabilizer?

Also, I swear I had to get a bigger/different tender for my STI battery than the smaller one I have for my sport bike.

For those that have never had a container before. If you ever get one, pay extra for a new one(aka one tripper). It'll be mouse proof and rust free. The two lap rubber gaskets are tight.. But you need to build a solid foundation to keep em that way. Dig a 3 foot hole at each corner and fill it with 2-5" stone. Then put flat pavers on the stone to support the container. Never put containers on dirt or let anything other than the corners support the weight. Level it front to back perfectly but pitch just it a bit to one side for roof drainage.

Needed to crawl out of the trunk but it has a foot on either side so I can access the engine just fine.

What's a cheap cover that fits the wrx?

salt free so far

I see other containers on each side of that one.

is that your property or a storage area?

Yeah I got a couple old cheap truck trailers on either side. One has been converted into my work shop with a wood stove.

I would definitely put Stabil360 in the tank before storage.

I bought the latest small Battery Tender the other day. Thing is like 1/2 the thickness of the ones I have on my cars. Pretty cool.

OP: "Should I start my car during the winter..."

The entire front page ignoring the only question asked: Why store your car? What about your container? Mouse proof? I don't believe you, prove it!!!!!!!!!

Stay classy NASIOC.

Do your thing OP. You've got a nice car and the means to keep it that way.

Thought it was a simple question as well. Proud of myself for taking the high road and helping those people out smart the rodents.

Good call dude

There should be some sort of internet rule where you can't say what you think about something.
I think Twitter just put that in place.
AOC tweeted something that made less than no sense right after and it crashed their whole system.

To avoid odours, you will need something to eat the moisture, like large silica packs or "Damp Trap".

I have been storing my 2009 STI every winter since it was new. I just let it sit all winter and keep the battery charged. This will be its second year in a humidity controlled, heated garage. Last year I didn't use anything on the inside to keep the humidity down and you could smell it after a few months. I put in some large silica packs in February and the car was smelling nice and fresh in the spring.

I have been storing mine with just full fresh fuel (SHELL 91-Octane), Fuel stabilizer, disconnected battery & two open boxes of arm&hammer baking soda inside the car for humidity.
No heated garage.
Didn't change oil - Change that immediately after winter
No problems

But that's the opposite of every recommendation ever.

Your car must've spontaneously combusted without you knowing.

cool man, nobody said your car was going to self destruct. But fresh oil is the recommendation and considering it's going to sit stagnant for months it makes quite a bit of sense.

you're a tool, you are just jumping in now because you waited it out long enough for one guy to take a position against the globally accepted, standard recommendation that you didn't understand and then you immediately jumped on it because you were psyched there was one guy you could cling to
loser

your welcome
I couldn't sleep last night thinking of your car not having an oil change pre storage

I guess I'm the only one seeing the irony in wanting to store away your car for 3-5 months to keep salt from touching it, but not wanting to spend 15 minutes doing an oil change first

This is a good idea. For some reason these WRXS like to collect condensation in the rear window. Like a boat.

Swing and a miss. I guess whenever I post in a thread you do I'm automatically doing it because of you.

It was a joke not your uncle's dick you dont need to take it so hard!

Besides, the man lives in Canada, it's not like he has to worry about moisture from cold weather or anything.

How about the battery? Now that I know not to start it, should I take it inside the warm house for the winter?
