I might be interested in the old motor. My x has a 93 lego wagon that needs work and it might be cheaper to pick up a used motor.

ok sounds good. the current motor has had the timing belt done, just got a fresh oil change and has had the valve cover gaskets changed in the last year or 2 and it runs great.

Japcarrealgood - Barry has a forester shell for sale in white, you probably have enough parts to build another whole forester
It's white too Last edited by bobturismo; 02-05-2012 at 03:08 PM. |

thanks. 5mm wheel spacers came in today, fixed that rubbing. I didn't think a +48 wheel would rub but it did. Anyways, took it off the jack stands and gonna use it to run around in all week gathering parts, hopefully picking up the motor/turbo tomorrow.

I'm a bit baffled. This is not a stock bugeye WRX intake manifold, is it? |

I have a stock downpipe off my 05 wrx. It has a few miles on it but it's yours if you want it. Along with the cat but I doubt it'll run the lenght of your forester

so yea, I don't think this is an EJ205 (I had no idea how to tell). it definitely is a turbo motor, just not sure what vehicle it came out of.
edit: Here's some more scooby clues. It has a top entry TD04, and has 4 Cam 16 Valve on the valve covers. Last edited by yman; 02-07-2012 at 09:48 PM. |

Looks and sounds like a ej20g I have one in my 93 leggy. Looks like some work has been done to the intake manifold? Is it reversed?? send a pic of the valve cover. Hopefully it is a closed deck jdm. I run 18 psi with 80% max fuelflow with the factory turbo(fmic), 3"dp,linkplus ecm at sea level.

ok, I think I have one pending as a trade but if it falls through I'll pm ya.
Anyways. So yea...I have an EJ20 sitting in my garage and I don't know anything about it. It doesn't have TGV's and I'm guessing it's from like...an early WRX wagon or Legacy. |

Post a pic of your valve covers to be sure its a ej20g.
I don't think the usdm ecu will work with the jdm coilpacks. Not sure on any of that I got frustrated and bought a standalone but i have found used jdm ej20g harnesses can be had. I get jdm ej20g parts from outfrontmotorsports.com they build the baddest subaru sandrails. Often they have hard to find used parts at a good price eg... coilpacks, valve cover gaskets, timing belt covers, idler bearings and everything with the ej20g. I would keep the intake forward and pipe a fmic for it. |

Nvm not the same motor as mine, I have the ridges throughout the whole valve cover. Ive ran across a website before that shows every ej motor with turbo configurations, part numbers and what model they came from, ill look around tomorrow but I found it searching google.

Looks like you've got yourself an EJ20G there Andrew. If you're looking to pass OBD-II emissions go ahead put her up for sale. I don't know as that particular motor ever came in an OBD-II car in the states. Maybe the Legacy guys can chime in on that one, but if it didn't you have three options to run it: 1) an OBD-I USDM Legacy ECU, 2) a JDM ECU, 3) an Apexi Power FC. None of those options will clear OBD-II scans. With a catalytic converter it'll pass a sniffer just fine.
I'm going through a similar ordeal right now and the best advice I can give you is find a rolled WRX and swap everything from that. A WRX will give you OBD compliance, turbo power, parts availability and buying the whole car will ensure you have everything needed from the get go. That or just bear through those college years until you're making $Texas and can buy that shiny new direct injection 2.0l low mount turbo 2014 STi. Have you looked into the wiring requirements yet? No matter what if you swap a turbo motor in you're going to need to do a harness merge. |

Well I was hoping it would work with the 03 WRX harness/ECU, then I was hoping it would work with the 03 WRX harness/aftermarket ECU, now I'm just lost on where to go. If I put it up for sale, who would be able to use it?
