As promised the injector side of the TGVs





The blessings and highlights of this build are finding gems like this. A new Tomei UEL header and up pipe. After ordering a used one from ebay that arrived cracked, I was faced with a choice; buy a new one - all $700 worth or keep the original ebay EL. To some, "What luck;" or "fished your wish," would apply here but during my ordeal [with the cracked header] I'd find and buy this BN UEL as it surfaced.







Being a fan of the small things named "efficiency, "I sent the header out to a friend; his names Chris, he owns Velocity PC in Mo Val. If you ever look him up, tell him Joel sent you. Please be courteous and respectful. I'll hunt you down if he say's otherwise. There are no handouts, support local businesses. If he chooses to offers a great price, awesome, other than that I mention him solely because he's a good coater. This is done in bronze cerakote.

TGV's buttoned up today. I will be leaving the rods in, hence no welds or plugs.




Random Updates:
Forgot to post seats during the buddyclub share.



Some heritage mirror covers sent to me from my family in Belize.



Picked up some centric rotors & stop tech pads for the impending brake job. I was after slotted only but the ETA was unknown - Testing some black backdrop photos.



Everything is fully functional, car is running as good as it can be in limp mode. I'm itching to do the updates but I'm waiting on a few more items. Since theres a wait, I decided to get the AC charged before the heatwave and make sure there's no issues there.

I'll be getting rid of this setup later this year, I recorded some exhaust clips just in case I forget to do it before I take it off. Vid is of Cold start and rev once warmed.

Verbal Updates:
I've confirmed my passenger LCA is bad. Driving I've felt a change in caster accelerating and braking. 2 days ago during an oil change (I switched to pennzoil 5w30 great stuff BTW, definitely produced a smoother idle. I learned of it here (https://540ratblog.wordpress.com) I was checking the "loose change" noise coming from the right front rotor, while hitting the tire, I noticed the LCA moving - Since they are the steel LCA's I will be upgrading to the STI ones.

So excited for these. I ordered them from a guy on ebay; in russia. They came in yesterday. I can finally put my TGV delete on. If you saw my codes, my TGVs are stuck closed. I have 1000miles in limp mode, short trips. I'm aware that's a big no no, but I've stayed out of boost and I don't drive over 70mph anyway. I'm just glad this means, the fretting can come to an end. Soon the car will be down again. I may park it and wait until my other Tomei Bits arrive.

Appreciate that Jeffay, Thanks for checking it out. I have long term plans for the car, so in due time I hope it comes together nicely.

Updates updates updates, spent the late night hours (5 of them or so) wrapping my tomei header and up-pipe. I was inspired by remski's build to do it in this manner. I found it very difficult to wrap vs the DC sports one I wrapped a few months prior - maybe I over planned it. Nevertheless, enjoy pics from my itchy twilight adventures.







Even though I purchased the UEL new, out of box, it did not come with hardware. I had to settle for OTS sizes at the local store (m10x1.25x45mm).

I was also able to source some JDM STI LCA's and lateral arms from my good friend David @JDM CA. I think I may also pick up some misc rear end bushings and just knock out the rear end update once I tear it apart.

The encouragement from words.....Thanks LF!

The exterior is what troubles me right now. Stuck in a limbo of what to do. I'm not sure I'll ever loose the gaudy flares. I definitely feel converting to the karlton flare is subtle and timeless choice IMO; which is desireable. See, back in 2014 I purchased the 18x11 +16 RS05RR's, just when rocket bunny had hit the scene, since the market love has changed I've been unsuccessful selling the wheels. My current dilemma, keep the enkeis forever and revise the flares as planned or get something more my current speed 18x10 ish that can flow with the subtle karlton setup. Either way I'm in it for the long haul - A stock body panel job is last resort.

rock, scissors, "paper-weight"..



....on a brighter note, I'm Happy to report my neighborhood alarm has arrived. The downside, the downpipe is on back order until Dec.

Brake lines are in, watermarked the image since I "dolled" it up a bit. I'd hate for some E*store to use it as their own.



I've been pondering with the upgrades if I should go e85 or not. I still have a few wks before the new downpipe arrives. Thoughts anyone? This would be my e85 parts to buy list, if I left out something you'd recommend please LMK:

AEM e85 pump

Surge / Anti slosh tank upgrade
GS intake - ordered, I do not know the release/ship date.

If E85 is available and accessible then I would do it. E85 burns cooler and tends to help these motors last longer.

Nice job reviving this bugeye by the way. Keep up the good work.

Thanks TD! About the e85, I do have 3 stations locally all within reason. I'm usually the guy that fills up the next morning on E LOL but with my Subaru I've been keen on 1/4 every time. I'm curious to know if the Flex conversion kits are the way to go, or plan to just do the full E all day everyday setup and not worry about those extra bells and whistles?

I ran full time E85 when my car was running.

Now that I am reviving my wrx I am going to try and use an innovative e85 flex fuel wide band kit paired with the carberry rom so I can get an actual flex fuel setup going incase I need to fill up with 91 sometime. I don't know how it will work since I haven't tried it yet, so I don't want to tell you to go this route but maybe look into it.

Edit* is this an sti with a bugeye front end? It looks like it has DBW throttle body so gonna say it is. In that case carberry rom won't work on that 32 bit ecu but I am sure your able to set up the innovative setup another way.

The car is a bugeye with a full 05 sti conversion. It does use the 32bit ECU and I have converted to DBW. I think for ease of crossover I'm just going ahead with the full e85 tune. I mainly drive 70mph 30miles ish a day, so I'm hoping MPGs don't suffer to the extent of nullifying everything.

Expect to use around 30% more fuel with E85 than running 91. It's not to bad at all. Race fuel at the pump.

Got home late and tired yesterday so I didn't post this update. After 4years of living in a box, I finally mounted tires to my Enkei RR's. Love the look of these wheels. I'm not to happy with the lip exposure but for a daily tire this was the most sound purchase. I will switch up to 295 R888's in the future for the lip protection.
