Question for the 2019 STI owners...I figure here is a good place as opposed to starting a new thread for a quick question.

I notice that there is a unique sound when passing through ~3500 rpm with the clutch pressed in compared to when the car is in neutral and the clutch not pressed in.

I first noticed this when shifting gears under moderate load. I would hear the slightest gargle noise right as I press the clutch in (before the engine speed decreases). I tracked it down to a noise that occurs under no load with the clutch depressed.

Anyone else hear a similar thing? Can you provide a root cause?

Looking back, the members gallery thread probably isn’t the best place for questions. My apologies friends. I can post elsewhere.

I think you are describing my same question here:

Yes exactly! Same noise. Did you find out anything more from the dealer about what the noose might be? Someone told me it’s a throw out bearing but it has been like that since day 1.

I don’t think it’s a clutch noise more of an engine noise, for me anyway. I just turned the radio up and forgot about it . Pretty sure it’s normal.

Just passed 1,000 miles (woohoo!) on my 2019 w/ low-profile spoiler. Seems I am supposed to be posting a pic to participate in this thread. I'll have to take some.

Everyone here seems to have the wing, but I like the understated look for my purposes.

Everyone here seems to have the wing, but I like the understated look for my purposes. Also, I owned a 2006 and couldn't find a seating position that prevented the wing from blocking part of my rearward view.

Speaking of my 2006, the 2019 doesn't sound as angry as I remember the 2006 sounding. Maybe that's just because I'm used to the SPT exhaust on my previous 2010 Impreza GT. I noticed the SPT exhaust disappeared from the STI's options sheet in the last year or two, and I was told that's because it now has it standard, but this exhaust is nowhere near as potent as the SPT on my 2010. The pipes also are smaller diameter. *shrug*. My 2006's stock exhaust would set off warning chirps from car security systems while maneuvering in parking garages. Even my GT didn't do that.

I'm not complaining. The turbo is insanely loud on this thing and it makes you want to rev it. It's good in a different way from my GT. I'm just surprised my slushbox WRX, of all things, had a more muscular aural presence.

Looking forward to seeing what it's all about now that I'm no longer driving in engine-break-in mode.
Host them on Imgur and copy the link for message boards. Can't say I've seen the lip spoiler on a silver sti yet. The exhaust from the 2018 SPT was discontinued for the 2019. it doesn't look that great IMO, tips hang a bit low and are the small in diameter.

Bought this on 10/24/18 and have loved it since the day I saw it. Almost at 4K miles with AWE Touring Catback and Cobb intake. Soon to add Cobb uppipe/downpipe. Still can't get enough of this color.

I took some pics so I should have something to post soon.

The version with the lip spoiler instead of the wing seems uncommon. I don't think I've seen another one on the road so far. Thank goodness for the fluorescent chartreuse brake calipers Otherwise I might mistake a WRX for a wingless STI if I saw it flash by out of the corner of my eye.

Does anyone know if 2018 parts would easily switch to a 19?

Default Break in run

What better way to pile on some break in miles on a brand new car than a 600 mile round trip for lunch in Parkfield, California. The 150 miles of twisty turns from Pinnacles to Coalinga, Parkfield, and finally San Miguel was punctuated by almost zero traffic. I think I had a hundred mile stretch without encountering a single other vehicle. What a great way to get to know a new car.

It took me entirely too long to get around to posting this, and I'm not thrilled with the camera angle, but here's what I've got so far. Presenting, the silver wingless STI:

Figured I'd post this since its a boring work day. Sitting on Enkei TS-10's with 255/35/18. Love the car, I've had it for a week.
