2007 UGM STi Limited #154/800
Hello everyone, just recently picked up a 2007 STi Limited #154\800
While car searching I was torn between the EVO and STi. I already have a AW bugeye wrx and leaning more towards the EVO just to have something different. After already having the Subaru for 6 years i felt it would be much easier working on another and i already have a good Subaru community around me, so the choice for the STi was easy. For me i personally did not like the Black and blue interior on the regular STi's so the Limited was the only option for me. While looking there was only 3 within 600 miles, one within 4 hours of me and the other 2 in Georgia and Alabama Called the dealership, got approved then drove up the next week with my buddy. When i got there the car looked pretty stock, the headlight housings were, painted black had an invida downpipe with a invidia n1, fully catless and the STi badges were gone. The rear calipers were gold instead of black and there were slotted rotors installed. Inside the car was very clean and the outside was pretty good. No rust on the rear quarters and just some small rust on the driver side front fender near the door. Test drove it, call pulled strong and smooth, nothing i could find mechanically wrong with the car, nothing but smiles on my face. Came back signed the paperwork and drive away with an STi. 105k miles on it ****ty cell phone pics for now until i do a photo shoot Purchased on 04/15/2017. ****Been along time since some updates***** Back in December 2017, while driving down the highway a half moon seal gave out and drained the engine completely of oil.(at the time i did not know this) When I got the car back home and was able to get it started, It was probably the loudest knock I had ever heard in my life Now came time do decide whether i should buy a OEM shortblock and be done or do a build. Knowing that if I went with the OEM i would still have the potential weaknesses we all dread, so I decided to go the built engine route to try to eliminate most known failures. It had taken me until summer 2018 before i figured the route I wanted to go. I was looking hear on Nasioc and found a deal from Sam marco on hear and found a deal on a engine that i could not pass on. I was skeptical buying a used engine, especially all they on the other side of the country. But luckily, he did everything i asked such as compression check, leak down test, got the engine back in the car and running with data logs. Everything checked out awesome and he had made a crate and had it shipped out via 3PL to the closest Fastenal (which is literally down the street from me) So from this point, my overall plan was to make the car a reliable sleeper street car, that looks mostly stock inside and out. I was a little nervous at first because this was my first engine build and i wanted to do all of the work myself. I had watched many youtube videos(shout out to Homebrew Subaru) and there is soo much information on these forums that I felt confident. (which also means no labor cost) Here is some of my journey. ******Updated BUILD THREAD 06/04/20****** Engine: -IAG Stage 2 Tuff Block (Cosworth pistons) -Stock V25 heads - Felpro PermaTorque MLS Head Gaskets (26670) -Forced Performance Green HTZ Turbo -Thermal Zero Turbo Blanket -Grimmspeed uppipe with 38mm v-band flange and Wastegate Tube -Invidia V2 Catless Downpipe - Wrapped with DEI titanium wrap -Invidia N1 Race Exhaust Ti Tip (no resonators) -Tial 38mm MV-S Wastegate -Omni 4-bar MAP sensor -COBB AccessPORT V3 -Grimmspeed TMIC - w/ welded IAT bung - GM IAT Sensor (Silicone Couplers) -COBB SF Intake -Cobb XLE bpv -IAG AOS - Street Series -NGK One Step Colder Plugs -Mishimoto Silicone Turbo Inlet -IAG Competition Engine Mounts -Company23 v2 Anti-Surge Electronic Boost Controller -IWIRE Hybrid Speed Density Adapter kit -TiC FU AVCS Bolts -Killer B Oil Pickup Tube and Oil Baffle -IAG TGV Deletes w/ phenolic spacers -IAG Aluminum Half-moon Seals -Aluminati Air Pump Deletes -All New OEM Engine Gaskets and seals -Gates Timing Kit w/ Water Pump -OEM Thermostat -Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator -Motul X-Clean 5w30 -Mazda Rx8 Oil Filter Fueling: -ID 1300x Injectors -IAG V3 Fuel Rails -Walbro 450 Fuel Pump -Aeromotive FPR -J.K. Congrats on the car!
I still regret not jumping on an immaculate '07 STI Limited that popped up near me last year with just 25k miles. It's sad that the previous owner went away from the subtle black Brembos to the gold ones. But that's a pretty easy fix if that's something you want to change. I'd also get another STI limited lip thrown on there ASAP. |
