Salami, how is the turbo holding up? Would you be comfortable recommending this turbo to a friend? Quality and reliability have been the two factors keeping me from moving forward with this unit. Not that I have heard anything negative, but more I just haven't heard much feedback period...
Thanks!

It's solid. Unfortunately, I've had engine rebuild issues, and my car has been down for a solid 4 months (I'm about to murder my tuner!).
That aside, my tuner is very impressed with how easy this turbo is to tune, and its power potential. He limited my tune to keep it below 400 lb/ft of torque to preserve my 5-speed tranny. I'm very happy with this turbo, and I expect it to last. I would recommend it to anyone i know that's looking for a high-quality 20G that had very good spool down low, but still flows really well through the mid range and up top.

I know this thread has been inactive for quite some time now, but I am new to the Subaru family, and I have been looking for a turbo for DD as well spirited driving every once in a while. Is this turbo recommended, as well as how has it been holding up? One other quick question, prior to building your motor, what fuel system were you running?

IMO, this is the perfect DD turbo (for a car with the right mods). I've got about 30K trouble-free miles on mine. You can grab one of these for less than $700. That's an awesome deal for this kind of quality. This is definitely not an Ebay turbo.
I had a different shop retune the car for a flex fuels system, and I'm running a conservative, 5-speed-friendly tune to keep torque just below 400#s.
I wouldn't change a thing. Very happy with this turbo.

Before the Cobb flex fuel (expensive, but highly recommended!), I was on an upgraded 265 lph fuel pump and a methanol injection system. I would not recommend this - it cost me a motor rebuild.
If you do install this turbo, you'll need to upgrade your fuel pump (I like the AEM 50-1215), and I'd suggest 1000cc injectors. And a pro-tune, of course.

Here is my little write up on an Arashi 18G I installed in my 08 STi.

https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?t=2886914

Been a litter over 3 months since the tune and its functioning flawlessly. Very happy with the value of this turbo. I made 336/336 on a Mustang dyno and with some things I've fixed and tweeked I wouldn't be surprised if we got it over 350.

Thanks for the review! I've been on the fence on buying one of these and I think this was the trigger.

I order a td06sl2 20g as well. It came today, but I realized I got the wrong Turbo for my car. ***129318;***127997;****9792;***65039; I have a 09 wrx and order a GRF TD06SL2-20G-8cm from Arashi. I'm not planning on sending it back bcz shipping cost won't be worth it. If any one is looking for one pm.

Still diggin' this turbo. I'm pushing just under 400 hp on flex fuel with this, and it's a complete blast squirting through traffic in my DD '09 WRX. Highly recommended!

Did you notice any significant difference on the turbo lag compared to the vf52?

"Driving impressions: this is an excellent DD turbo! I was concerned that spool would suffer compared to the VF52, but it builds boost so much more linearly than the stock turbo. It feels much beefier and smoother throughout the rpm range. The VF52 would spool hard, but run out of steam around 5,000 rpm, while the 20G just pushes hard from 3,500 - 6,500 rpm. Throttle response is excellent! Passing on the freeway or goosing the throttle on an onramp feels smooth and effortless compared to the stock turbo.

Hello,
You wrote the TD06SL2 pushes hard till 6500rpm : how many boost do you have at 6500? And at 7000?
Thanks!

Sounds like a great turbo, do you have any dyno chart or virtual dyno chart to share, I'd like to see how it spool before 3500 rpm. TIA

Sorry, I've been lazy & haven't logged it in quite awhile. I would say it curves off around 6500. The amount of boost it holds at that rpm has to do with quite a few other factors - I'm on a conservative tune, and I'm running a catted Cobb DP that necks down to a 2.5 outlet.

Sorry...I've been meaning to do a few virtual dyno pulls, but I've been too lazy to do it. Below 3500 is not great (as you would expect with a 20G), but it builds boost so smoothly. Excellent throttle/boost response in traffic.

So you have no idea of boost at high rpm? Near 16psi or 22psi? It's a big différence...
I know it depends of the settings, but if I have similar settings to you, what can I expect concerning boost till 7000rpm?

Mines installed, makes good power but its seems laggy on dyno but when you are driving its feels ok when you are driving it. Bone stock car made 220WHP and now make 320WHP @ 20PSI whilst still on stock intercooler.

There was a little boost creep on mine so anyone buying this turbo may want to port it.

Thank you for your feedback!
How much boost do you have at 7000rpm?
At which rpm do you have at least 14psi?

About 3100/200ish for 14psi and holds 20psi to redline
