Default 2015 WRX Header

As much as we don't want to make this part, we keep getting asked over and over and over again. If you guys r-e-a-l-l-y want it... We can make it happen, with or without EWGs.

Thanks for the votes. Getting good feedback through e-mail, PM and FB as well. Also feel free to let us know if you'd prefer them as shown here, or with Dual EWGs?

Thanks!

I think alot of the questioning about the stock turbo manifold is due to the STX71 from steamspeed, and the conclusion they posted, stating the turbo manifold was limiting the turbo from reaching optimal speed. I think that if an aftermarket turbo manifold was the true solution, those who were aimed in a larger turbo direction, would definitely appreciate a product from KillerB, who has put out consistently quality products.

If the EWG option was requested, would there be an additional option for different turbo flanges, or only the factory turbo flange?

^ That conclusion is an interesting one. Since we ran into zero issues with a restriction running a standard T3, it would seem to me that the more logical issue Steam is having is with sticking with the OEM style turbine housing. The turbine plots I've seen for that setup shows this as well, I don't see why it's a surprise to anyone, or why they would say it was the manifold.

The is the same issue with the EJ engines all over again. No 'bolt-in' turbo that uses OEM design features, is ever going to match the performance of a ground-up performance oriented design.

As far as making different flange options available, you're into our turbo kit. There is no T3, T4 or V-band turbine housing that maintains OEM location (or J-Pipe Bolt pattern) for turbine outlet, compressor inlet, and compressor outlet... this is all included in our Twin Scroll Fury Turbo kit

The turbo kit doesn't include a header, but if you did have an EWG header, we could make the kit's OEM to T3 TS adapter without the EWG ports.

PRL Motorsports is finalizing their design right now (found via a Facebook post), so there is some competition on the horizon or an option for those who are looking for this, in the event that KillerBMotorsport opts out.

You already have built the manifold.

Why not just find someone locally that has the turbo and do some real testing? Or ... get steamspeed to send one to you. If they are SO positive its the manifold....they should have any reason not to send you a turbo to test.

Finalizing the design before a singe test has been done?

Actually we have a few header sets here. Our 2015 WRX has been running one since November for reliability testing. We're definitely NOT selling a product that hasn't been rigorously tested for performance AND reliability. I have no interest in the Steam setups. I've seen the turbine flow data and I just don't see the point in them as a decent upgrade. It's not going to come anywhere near matching the power of an performance designed turbocharger platform like a GTX or EFR. It comes down to the old adage; cheap, reliable, fast... you can only have two.

Is it still going to be 321?

RD Engineering says their header makes 10whp / 12-15wtq on 91 CA and has a similar design.

I made an assumption based on the timing of PRL releasing their header for the Steamspeed turbo.

Sounds about right. We were on a low reading dyno; car barely made 250whp at stage II+, Of course every dyno is different, loading ,etc...

We test every part we make...

Design, make mock up manifold, test fit, build complete manifold and test for gains on the dyno

Process has worked well with no reason to change now.

Hey Chris...

I know I read it somewhere, but can you post up why you're so hesitant to produce headers? Maybe update your OP with a reason to your aversion?

IIRC, in testing his header with the turbo kit, the header only gained about 10whp over the stock header. Considering the Holy Header for the EJ cost around $1300-$1600, do you want to pay that much for 10whp?

I think the EWG variant makes more sense. Not really about the HP gain from a header, but the better boost control for those who suffer from constant overboost.

This is a great point. As power levels and higher power density fuels (E85) are used, going the EWG route removes the limitations of the factory turbo's IWG.

Yes. Since the Twin Scroll Fury Turbo Kit uses an flange adapter, you can use the manifold for either.

Saw Brentuning's post about installing this on a customers car... I'd love to throw my wallet at this right now.

Still more details to post on the website. We've also got a OEM WG door keeper closer kit available. It's pretty simple and will be available as an option with the EWG version.
