I am still waiting on the dealer... The Service adviser told me that the subaru rep is out of town. I think I may bypass them completely tomorrow and contact SOA.

sorry if I missed this, but is this an issue isolated to the 15+, I haven't seen this on the 08-14? Also, do we know if this is an issue related to the new chassis, or the FA engine? so far it seems like this is an FA issue and not a 2015+ problem.

Yes, it seems it is only the wrx fa20dit doesn't seem to be affecting the STI.

Thanks! I dont have much experience with the 15+ but I'm wondering why the FA would be doing this and not the EJ. Of course I'm assuming the body and it's mounting points are the same between the 2

Just watched an install video. It looks like the mounting points are identical. The only thing I can think of is the fact that the torque curve is much steeper with the FA. It could also be that we just haven't heard a report from an STI owner yet.

Yeah thats kinda what i was thinking, which means its only a matter of time before the sti starts seeing this.

I think the EJ would blow up before it has a chance to rip the pitch mount apart

Just kidding. The EJ has completely different drivetrain mounts (old style motor mounts, different 6 speed trans mount), even if they aren't stiffer they are the same ones as previous gens, when this wasn't really a problem. Its possible the FA20 WRX mounts just allow too much free movement.

Or, it just hasn't happened yet since there are far fewer STIs than WRXs on the road.

Sounds legit, i wouldnt be surprised if its due to the wrx pitch mount receiving too much force from weaker motor mounts. Regardless, all its doing is exploiting the fact that the spot welds on the 15+ are a breaking point. I'd imagine even with a bandaid to stop this from happening so quickly, itll still happen at some point. Someone needs to fab a brace or something to keep that mount from coming lose

Didn't know STI's have different motor and trans mounts. Sounds like another possibility. Bottom line is it's an engineering flaw that they should fix in all cars.

Seeing it on a video my mouth was open the whole time. This is a huge problem and a huge safety concern! Subaru needs to get a fix for this real quick.

that is just nasty. I can't see any solution to this other than welding some more metal in there.

So... Now who here still thinks the issue is aftermarket pitch stops?

Sounds like the engine mounts are too soft and causing more stress on the pitch stop bracket than it was designed for.

I propose Subaru supply all 15/16 WRX/STI owners with Perrin engine and trans mounts. I'll settle for Group N if necessary. I'd imagine the dealership will be calling me any day to inform me of this fix. Lol.

Tried commenting on the video telling the guy that he has the wrong oil filter and that if the dealership did his oil changes he should go somewhere else and he flips **** posting about aftermarket parts lol. Like dude chill out, just warning you that if your dealership installed that they are morons and you should get a second opinion. Anyway this is scary to say the least if it's happening on stock cars. Subaru needs to release a recall or at least a statement about it.
