Not to thread jack (too much since this is driveline-related at least), but I did the same install over the weekend with the same results. Noticeably louder. I'm going to give it a few hundred miles, though, before I make a final judgment. Between these mods and the Whiteline rear diff inserts the driveline lash is at least 50% improved. Well worth it for the relatively low price of the mods

Exactly.

I should have added in my original post, a big part of the reason why I did the trans mount was to reduce the load on the PSM. I currently have a Torque Solutions unit in place without the pitch stop brace (which is on my list of things to do). I just wanted to reduce all the drivetrain lash I could to help "save" the PSM brackets.

I just did the Perrin transmission mount and Whiteline transmission mount bushings KDT901. A month or so earlier I did the Whiteline rear diff inserts KDT903.

I was very pleased with the rear diff inserts. Noticeable improvement in back end tightness with only the slightest marginal NVH. However with the transmission mount and bushing install, I am also at the "edge of my comfort zone". I am considering swapping the Perrin mount with the Group N mount in order to turn down the NVH a notch or 2 to get in my comfort zone, but with folks complaining about Group N, maybe it is not worth the swap.

Does anyone have experience comparing Perrin with Group N trans mounts regarding NVH?

I also noticed a "whine" occasionally while cruising, especially near 2,000RPM. This morning, driving the car on the highway, I'd say the inside of the car was even louder; almost like having a catback exhaust.

With the two hours I spent wrestling the mount in and out, I'm going to leave it all alone and see if I can't cope with it for now; if it gets really bad I may revert back to the factory crossmember bushings to see if that helps. With the way the car drives now though, it would be an absolute shame to lose the overall "tightness" the car has.
I'm on a full set of poly mounts and the whine is normal. It's gear whine from the transmission being transmitted though mounts into body.

I tried both, and I prefer the Group N. The Perrin was definitely stiffer, but the increase in noise in the cabin was a step too far for my comfort level. It sounded like increased engine drone; not like an increased exhaust level.

I didn't notice a huge difference in vibration, but the Perrin gives your shifter a more mechanical feel, while the Group N feels a bit "smoother".

Forgot to share this. In perrin's example of the cracked pitchstop bracket, my car was the one with the forged beatrush PS. I also installed a beatrush transmission mount along with the PS. The cause of my crack was due to missing driver side motor mount bolts.

The engined moved so much that when I went to finally get my bracket replace. while removing the dash & PS, the found that my beatrush PS actually bent from the excessive engine movement. Big Ron's body shop get me all setup and the car feels great now.

Holy ****.

Out of nothing more than my curiosity, how would you describe your driving habits with the car? I've never seen anything fail that hard.

On the streets, It's pretty baby'ed minus the few high way pulls on the freeway on ramp. I've track the car I believe two times when I started noticing an issue.

At first I thought I had somehow screwed up when installing my kartboy SSK & bushings, but I started to notice a lot of side to side play when I would accelerate in 1st and/or 2nd gear. I kept grinding 3rd gear when I was switching gears mid corner while at BW and it was really screwing with me.

At first I thought It was a cracked transmission mount since the stock one was so soft. In this video I put a go pro underneath the car and drove around. You can see the whole transmission move left to right when I get on it. Last clip showed the side to side movement.

At that time I swapped the TM & PS for the beatrush parts and it seems to had fix my problem temporary until I went to buttonwillow again & again kept grinding gears when switching from 2nd to 3rd mid corner. To stop it from happening, I had to just shift much slower where I felt the transmission settle and I slipped it into 3rd. Super annoying. It was only till I was on the forums did I seee people cracking their PS bracket that I checked mine and saw it was cracked... took it easy on the car till i brought it to adan at AQ motorsports and he told me I had missing motor mount bolts when I wanted to swap the motor mounts for beatrush mounts.

One lesson we can learn from this is to check your engine mounts and make sure the bolts are still there.

Thanks for that link! They also have TSBs for the TOB and Creaking Clutch Pedal!

I remember way back in this thread someone getting their bracket replaced, had to have their dash removed as well as the transmission to weld on the new bracket, which must have been a nightmare! The TSB doesn't show you having to do that. It also looks like a procedure a Mid-Level DIYer could accomplish if they wanted to.

It's the same procedure as before and is going to require a lot of work to weld the new bracket in.

. . . and without mods so they will cover it.

I would suspect that any power or other drivetrain mods will be a reason for non-coverage given the potential for excess strain on the mount over stock. I've got a perrin PSM brace sitting on my workbench that I'll still be installing soon regardless of this 2 year extension.

My bigger fear is that if the PSM on my car ever breaks, the dealer will never ever put the car back together 100% as tight as it was from the factory.

Pitch stop mount brace it is, then.

This is my fear as well - that, and I don't trust my dealership not to mess something up (scratch my car, reinstall something incorrectly, etc.). For that reason, I will be installing the Perrin brace as soon as possible.

Same thing goes with the TOB...mine has been making noise on cold mornings since 500 miles, so I have gotten used to it at this point. I would rather live with the noise that goes away in a few minutes instead of letting the dealer drop my trans and risk more issues as a result.

Kind of jealous of anyone with a VIN after the cutoff for those two items that are getting the beefier pitch stop mount and redesigned TOB

I run the group N tranny mount and I do not think you are going to reduce NVH much, I am looking forward toi installing my Whiteline positive shift bushing kit next and then a set of group N engine mounts and the perrin pitch stop brace hopefully by summers end. When I did the group N tranny mount long ago it was the first thing I noticed, more noise , but to me not a bad amount but it is noticeable. WHT once I install anroid car play I can just drowned it out lol

that TSB makes me sad that it wasn't out sooner..... But they probably would have blamed it on my stiffer PS and not on my missing motor mount bolts

As it says it's an extension of the vehicle's original warranty on that item specifically, I would think that it's out the window with mods. However, if mine breaks, I'll try to have the dealer cover it even though I'm modded.
