Sorry, more power please. My friend bought an 01' S4 and I barely get ahead of him through second and third. Before I get any comments I do understand he has a 2.7 biturbo.

Wander over to the proven power bragging section and search for 02-05 WRX's with turbo swaps. You also have to keep in mind that as you look into bigger and better things, the durability of your 5-speed and shortblock are going to start to be in question.

The biggest question is how fast do you want to spend?

If you aren't looking to swap the turbo/injectors again, look into upgrading your intercooler (either a quality aftermarket TMIC or an FMIC setup), TGV Deletes and some Ported and Polished and Coated Exhaust Manifolds.

Or look into swapping an 18g/20g and some much bigger injectors, and a quality intercooler to match.

Do you think a protune would give me significant gains?

Not really. WhyHelloOfficer gave pretty good advice. At this point I would look into TGV deletes, intercooler and either a El header or P&P manifolds. Then a Protune would be worth it.

Are you using the base map that Clark Turner sent you?
Did you do any logs so that he could get your car dialed in better?

I found that the original map he sent me was decent, but definitely had a little headroom left. After a doing some logging, we ended up getting a better map on the fourth try.

The original map he sends you is going to be much further on the safe side until he gets a log (or multiple logs) back from you to know how your car is responding to the map.

You also need to keep in mind he is tuning from AZ, and although it is summer and the temps are high across the country, humidity and altitude can play a major role in how the car behaves.

My brother has a B6 S4 with RSK04 turbos, fuel system, intercoolers, exhausts, the whole deal. Put down 375WHP on a Mustang. The S4 has a stronger trans better brakes and way more bottom end... In order for me to keep up I'd need a 20G (minimum) with supporting mods for starters.

You should be pushing 270+WHP against his stock 225-240WHP now. S4 Stock torque reaches 200WTQ at 1,850 rpm so you barely have a chance there. The thing that savs you is that the WRX is a lighter car. If you have cash to burn you can spend enough to walk away from S4's and the like but we are talking five figures for the requisite set of parts to do it. The options are many but you are looking at turbos, transmission, and chassis upgrades to do it right.

...Yea. As has been said, if he gets some K04s, you're sunk. I pulled a 1/2 car on a C6 Corvette in my friends K04 S4. If he is stock now you should be well ahead. If he is chipped, I could understand it being a tough fight.

He bought the k04's but fortunately he has two kids and doesn't have time to install them and the local shop wants three grand to install them. I'm okay with what I have but I have the power bug....maybe a new platform would be the way to go. I'll definitely try to get some logs over to Clark...thanks for your suggestions.

B6 s4's arnt turbo'd. theyre the 4.2 V8. only the b5's were TT.

and to touch a stage 3 s4 (k04's or bigger) you will need to be making some serious power. my buddys stage 3 s4 walks all over protuned stag 2 STi's. his car is amazing.

i had the same friendly competition with my friend in his 02 S4 back in the day, he was chipped with his stock k03s , then chipped with k04s.
One of his turbos kept blowing up regardless of upgrades..then he gave up.
It was too expensive.
Keep at it, you'll eventually win in the end

Hey, I'm a subie guy so shows you how much I know about Audis. It's a B5 yes. He paid about $8K for the turbos and manifolds and I helped him with the install which was insane work. I don't know a B5 from a B6 or B-eleventeen. everything on that car is real serious no kid stuff there.

Advice to the OP is that you may be able to match the S4 on a random street pull somewhere with some basic bolt-ons, but the potential of the car is far beyond a WRX and it will take so much money to get even. You want to beat an S4 then buy one and go from there... I would If I had the means.

Sorry every S4 I've rode in that was powerful was slow vs. power.

They are heavy turds with less than desired gear ratios..

Plus, most of the time they won't even make it to the track to run lol.

Are you running an AP v2?
Send me a PM if you need his Datalogging instructions for the AP.

I'm running an AP v1 and I'm not good at using my new laptop or any computer for that matter. I can tint and turn a wrench. I definitely need help. I think if Clark knew what was happening with my ecu he could help me out.

2.5 liter with forged internals and a 20g or 30r should get you there.
