Default 3" inlet question 08-14wrx

Looking around for 3" inlet and intake setups and i noticed that they all fit the pre 08's or just the sti's.
My question is why would it not fit the 08-14wrx? Is it a intake manifold clearance issue?
What would it take for it to fit?

All of the inlets for the plastic manifolds (08-14 wrx / legacy) have different hose barb placement than the other EJ25 inlets. The plastic manifold versions move the hose barbs to the side, probably as you mentioned for clearance.

FWIW, AVO claims their 3" inlet fits both models. Can not confirm myself...
