60k mile service
I'm getting stuff together to do my 60k mile service myself on my 2010 WRX. I had previously changed the trans fluid, and rear diff fluid at 30k as well as flush the brake fluid.
For the 60K here's what I have on my list: Trans fluid change Rear diff fluid change Brake fluid flush Brake pad change greasing slide pins etc. (pads have 1/4 meat left) Sparkplug change Motor oil and filter change Interior air filter change Intake air filter change Check coolant Check power steering fluid Check clutch fluid (might flush) I'm contemplating doing a compression test while I have all the spark plugs out. However, from what I've been reading just getting the plugs out can be a pain. Is it worth this to test? An alternative is to have a shop like IAG do the plug swap and compression test but I'm assuming that'll run me $100 not including the cost of plugs. I'm also not sure how to go about bleeding the clutch on just jack stands since the salve cylinder is way up in the transmission tunnel. I would be gravity bleeding the clutch since I really don't want to end up with air bubbles in there trying to pump it by myself. Plus it should be a lot quicker than doing the brake by gravity bleed. I do have a power bleeder, just not the right cap for the clutch reservoir. Am I missing anything? I'm still looking up methods for the compression test, leak down (not really needed, but might do it anyway), and bleeding the clutch. Any tips would be appreciated!

I read through that earlier but I guess I didn't see the service schedule link. The 2010 models weren't listed in the Subaru link, but I checked the 2009 and the fuel filter is really the only other thing on there. Surprisingly it only says to check the clutch and steering operation so I guess I'm good on that.

First of all, I've only done an oil change, and swapped snow tires for performance tires, so when I heard about fuel injection system service, rear diff oil, transmission fluid, and spark plug replacements, I was hesitant.
I started with the easy to do, air filters (engine and cabin). Then I watched a few YouTube videos which gave me the confidence to tackle a few of the maintenance items I have been avoiding. #1 - I took my time. It's not easy to replace your spark plugs, but if you have a socket set, elbow/knuckle and some extensions, it can be done. If I can do it, most people can do it. The next scheduled maintenance item is Rear Diff and Transmission Fluid change. I understand that it calls for 75W90, but up here in Canada, getting RedLine is difficult - so hopefully Synthetic Lucas Oil will be fine. Unfortunately the closest dealership to me right now, is over an hr away, so I'm unsure of where to get the transmission washer / transmission plug gasket from. Amazon.ca is trying to charge $24... for a crush washer !!! After the rear diff and tranny fluid are replaced, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and bring my 2010 WRX to the dealership for the Camshaft Drive Belt Service, as I don't think I want to tackle that job. Might even have them do the cooling system while they're at it. Hopefully I've saved enough money doing my own oil change, spark plug replacement and tranny service, that it makes sense to pay the dealership to do the rest. |

I'd swap out the PCV valve, as well. The one in my 14 FXT was all bunked up at ~78k miles.
