Default 2004 WRX Flywheel (OEM Equivalent)

I'm in need of an OEM/equivalent flywheel for my 2004 WRX. I've been looking at the Exedy TYF001, but it specifically states 2006-2014 WRX's. My question is, what is the difference between 04/05 and 06/07 WRX flywheels? They share a very similar appearance.

Exedy TYF001: https://www.definedusa.com/product-p/tyf001.htm

If this has been covered elsewhere, please direct me.

Thank you,
SJ

02-05 wrx 2.0 uses a pull clutch, different flywheel from the 06-07 wrx 2.5 that uses a push clutch. The sti versions used pull clutch for all of those years.

Thank you for the information. So will a 02-05 STi flywheel work?

5 speed flywheels are all the same design/mounting holes, even going back to EA era transmissions. It'll work.

The oem one had a dual mass damper, the one you posted doesn't. It might be a little more harmonic noise at certain speeds.

I contacted EXEDY and received the below response:

"The 02-05 uses a flex-type flywheel that we do not offer an OE replacement.

We recommend that an OE replacement flywheel be purchased through Subaru."

I went ahead and ordered an OEM flywheel off Amazon. Part #: 12342aa071

Hopefully, that will help some other people out.

That's crazy you can't find a one piece flywheel with the same weight for the 02-05 wrx. I bought an exedy replacement for my normal 07 impreza from Oakos, but obviously it's a different part. Mine was originally a dampened flywheel too. You can get the exedy FF01 flywheel but it's a good bit lighter than oem. I ran a lw exedy on my original ej20k swap.

Nope, this is false. EA engines have a different pattern drilled into the back on the crankshaft. EA flywheels need to be modified to fit EJ engines.
