Nice throwback thread.

Random question I just thought up. Does a dealer take vehicles with a certified rebuilt title on trade in? If so, how much does this alter the trade in offer? I'm sure they wouldn't sell it on their used lot so it'd probably be in auction.

Not subaru related but..... Im looking to buy a TRD pro 4runner and all the dealers ive found so far want about $5,000 to 7000 over msrp. Trucks been on their lot for about 60days and they're not looking to make a deal.

I looked at one at bayside toyota. Told them im gonna get price at a few other places since they wanted $4995 over msrp. Another sales man calls and ask why im going elseware to browse and i tell them. He inquires that they sell to me for the other dealers prince but they caught me at a bad time. it would have been 1000 over msrp out the door.

Next day, they call and give me another price. it was 3k over msrp.

The other dealer wouldnt even give me a price til i was ready to sign paperwork. Sales man calls me the next day and i inquire of the price and he says its $4000 over msrp.

Few days of driving around and what not i find one at msrp... just waiting for it.

Depends on the dealer

If so, how much does this alter the trade in offer?

The offer is the offer and that is based on the overall deal, but the value of the unit is severely diminished by a branded title.

I'm sure they wouldn't sell it on their used lot so it'd probably be in auction.
This depends on the dealer as well. The nice thing about auctions is that you may have exporters. Our version of a branded title means nothing overseas. No guarantee they will want the unit or be at the auction so the good used car people have connections and can avoid paying auction fees for a possible but not guaranteed sale. A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. A used car manager can make or break a dealership, the best ones are the ones who understand how and where to liquidate wholesale pieces. If the guy putting the number on the trade is weak everyone suffers in the big picture. There are a bunch of ways to structure a car deal, the numbers the consumer sees at time of sale are irrelevant, but what is relevant is that a profit is being generated from the deal at some point. Sometimes that is at point of sale and sometimes it’s later down the line. This again all depends on who writes the checks and their tolerance level for risk.

Hello!

Have you tried an online car service like Carvana? You might end up with a better price because of competition. Worth a shot!

Im a salesman for Malloy Toyota and we don't have a mark up on the Pro series!!!! I've got a sweet used one that's lifted if interested? Yeah the dealers in the city like to mark them up 5k for no reason other than to add to their profits.

I work at Toyota, and they’re just rare trucks in general. We’ve gotten about 3 4Runners this year and one Tacoma. At any given time, there’s probably less than 10 within a 500 mile radius.

I do not know what brand you are selling/used to sell. I am helping a friend to buy a new Mazda 3 hatch. Any advise on a volume/discount dealership similar to Heuberger Subaru?

Default SOA and trading in

With all of the recalls that are happening with the Impreza, what are the chances of a dealer giving me a really good deal to trade in my 2017 Sport for a WRX? I've had nothing but issues with the Starlink system and I am working on my 2nd head unit and still having issues, plus those two new recalls should give Subaru a reason to help owners remedy their dissatisfaction.
