Or, you know... they got tired of replacing blown up motors and decided to make the engine management pull timing like a mofo under heavy load - basically what Cobb found when they ran the s209 on the dyno.

The ringland failure class action settlement was finalized in late 2019 and covered cars up to 2017. Amazingly, the 2018 model got slower. It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out what happened.

STI got slower to make the SGP STI seem fast again.

It has the RA suspension, but not the carbon roof, so I'd argue at best they're close. It does have far better tires though.

Better tires >> a carbon roof.

It's probably faster around VIR.

That's what I thought. Have you kept the stock RA tires or gone to the cups? Obviously tires aren't going to do the same thing as removing weight from a higher center of gravity such as the carbon roof does. The carbon roof is a NICE feature either way...I'd trade that over tires anyday...since once you have the carbon roof, tires are just an order away.

You could remove the roof panel entirely and replace it with magic weightless material and it would make almost no difference. A piece of non-structural steel sheet metal isn't heavy at all.

I don't know why I'm even responding to you though. Your opinion is... not informed.

I've still got 7 miles on mine, so no new tires as of now; however, if I keep the RA wheels and don't move to the RA-R wheels, then I'll probably end up with R888Rs on it.

Yeah, I like the carbon roof!

I would love to know as well, the dealer told me they think its the last 3 of the vin. If that's the case then mine is #417. The metal number plate on the key fobs says *90072* so maybe mine is #72? I sure would love to know tho.

We would need to know all of the VINs with the last three. I went through and found about 350 VINs with their build dates on a limited number BRZ run. Some where out of order versus the days they were produced. And they didn't coincide with 001-500(I forget the run number). Maybe something on the car needed to be addressed before "officially" finishing it's build. Plus, I have no idea how they assign VINs to cars. Could they send #234 down the line, then later in the day do #45? I can tell you the day your car was built; but, not what time of day it came off the line.

I forgot about the Series White until I saw the video. Everyone's talking about 2022. No one cares about 2021. I assume WRX and STI will remain unchanged for 2021. I'm more so curious to see if there's an unchanged 2022 STI or if they cancel it for a model year. Highly doubtful they'd cancel it, but I dunno.

I should have bought a series white. I love white cars, but C19 made me decide to put off a new car.

It’s interesting to hear him talk about the weirdness in first and second gear. I expect that’s the real reason the 2018+ got so much slower.
