It just slid right in.

Looks like it's a project more for you then your son. But I know you had to tell your wife it was for your son so she let's you spend the money j/k

Why did you go with a silicon inlet? You had the Mani off already, should have went with a hard pipe.
He will be 15 in a month and learning to drive on this car. My wife will not let him drive the AMG and my Expedition is a little large. And yes... I get as much out of this as him but my “project” floats.

Perrin inlet came with the car. Otherwise, I agree. Maybe we will do that with a turbo upgrade.

That’s on the list. It’s been recommended by a few others as well. BOV is staying... the teenager is stoked about it.

No problem, your project do whatever you like. I'm guessing he is stoked about it due to the sound it makes? If thats the case, a nice aftermarket bpv will make the same sound. Dont let him fall in to the rabbit hole of sound/looks vs functionality. Just my 2 cents. Looking good tho. I'm starting my dedicated track car project myself. Will only be ready for the eng from TiC in the end or next year. Wish my dad was still alive to build this beast together. Would have been a blast. Plus help with the cost haha, the block itself will set me back 13k.

I'm jealous how much progress you've made on this! Looking good. I bought a gofastbits hybrid BOV/BPV that you can adjust between atmospheric and full recirc- that might be a good choice for you so 90% of the time you can have it on recirc- then switch the psssshhhhh when you want to.

All I know is his friends will most certainly be jealous, that's an extensive amount of upgrades, and a great father/son project for sure. Hopefully it's a manual shift. I trained our children on my wife's Nissan 240.
Cheers!

Ok... engine is in and todo list is getting shorter.

We are switching to SD. Tuner says factory MAP can do 26 PSI so we are staying with that but adding AEM IAT that will be wired with DIY PnP adapter.

Adding catch can between Grimspeed AOS and inlet tube.

Ordered new bearings for alternator and changing trans and rear diff fluids while it is on the jack

Wired the AEM wideband with PnP type plug via rear O2 plug under TMIC. Similar to iWire design. Had bung tig welded into bellmouth. Still need defrost vent pod

---Bearings for the alternator---

You my friend are a complete bad ass!!!!!

Love It!!!

Why doesn't anyone, anymore....drop that 30lbs of weight on the LF and go old school, and mount battery in trunk?
Sorry that is the only 1 thing I can complain/be a internet dick about in the entire build!!!!!
Cheers Car Guy

Wow nice man, glad to see it got fired up! Congrats

Oh btw, yeah you were right about the turbo inlet. I did it last week on my car with the manifold on and it slid right in with a little pushing. Probably the hardest part was just aligning the clamps correctly.

Apparently, the input shaft on the rack is leaking and the reservoir is low.

Seals on order... next project... pull the steering rack.

Thank you...

If we did mod the battery situation, I would go with two small lithium motorcycle batteries like the attached in parrallel. 4lbs total. I know someone that has done this with good success.

Im curious to see if those seals are able to be replaced without pulling the rack out completly. Maybe seperate the shaft and lines and pull the drive unit out??

Wholesome as heck. Cool to see one get rescued. Don't about forget me, your other son

Fwiw my rack was also leaking, and lucas oil power steering stop leak fixed it. Maybe I should be crucified for putting that in my car, but who knows. 21k miles later and I haven't had to refill it.

Thanks,

I already have the seals. So the rack comes out this week while we wait for the TBW skid plate. Wrapped the header and up-pipe, and installed the fuel pressure sensor in TGV left.

On my 01 Fozzie with 225k miles......
Rack leaking(duh)
A Subaru race friend said he would give me re-build kit
Sweet I thought
Then saw multiple vids how much of a PITA it was.......for a rack without fluid mind you

I decided to have RM vendor do mine for $140(with rack removed by me)
New inner ties/seals/boots all included
1day turn around

ADCO in national RM vendor btw
I used one that a mechanic shop recommended
(Cheaper)

Car sounds great!!!!!

Thanks!

We had the rack out, seals replaced, and back together in about 3 hours taking our time. Not too bad a job. Having the right tools helps.
All clean and getting the tune dialed in better each day.

Now to get this installed this weekend.

Default Sooo cool, I am inspired.

Almost done with my 2007 STI rebuild and this is awesome to see, almost the same process to a T, my son is 8 now and I am looking towards this kind of project. Congratulations on it and thank you very much for sharing the adventure. I truly appreciate it, as I’m sure by that grin on your sons face shows, he does too.
