Should be the same plug form factor as one of those USB headers I think... easy enough to pick up a USB header extension cable online.

No idea if this is any good or not, since I haven't used it. But I think this is what you're looking for.

Here's staring at a static screen with little to no updates in World of Tanks:

The regular core clock for the 680 is 1084MHz, I'm holding at 1136 solid even at those temps...

Maybe EVGA changed the firmware a tad to raise the temp at which the clock stepping starts to occur?
Ah nvm, the 680 doesn't support gpu boost 2.0, that's why you don't see the kind of throttling I do.

Was curious how far I could push my 980. This is as high as it would go before crashing in Valley. Pretty good for a reference cooler.

Nope.

If you asked Logitech they'd blame it on Sony. If you ask most other people they'll probably blame it on Logitech. But the Logitech G27 and Driving Force GT, the former of which is ~$200 and the latter of which can be picked up for $75 used do not have PS4 support. These are the "cheap" and "relatively cheap" options when talking about force feedback wheels.

Your options at this point are to go with the new G29 ($400 for wheel/3 pedal setup - shifter $60 extra) or a Thrustmaster T300 ($400 for 2 pedal setup - shifter ~$100 extra + another ~$150 if you want a clutch pedal). The Thrustmaster T80 is cheap but only has 270 degree rotation and no true force feedback, so it's pointless.

Fanatec makes a bunch of stuff too, but again we're talking at least $400+ for a setup. It's all expensive and Logitech has done some shady **** with cutting support on old wheels in lieu of releasing a new model like the G29 and doubling the price.

Why do you need ps4 compatible? Buy a wheel, start at the logitech g920 or higher level. Buy Assetto Corsa and/or project cars, and you will not be going back to your PS4.

Thanks, I'll look into them.

I don't necessarily need ps4 support, it's just a "nice to have" feature.

What does "g920 or higher level" mean? As far as I am aware (directly from their promotional video) they recycled the force feedback setup from the G27 for the G920. The G29 has the same setup as the G920. So why would he buy the one that's not compatible with the console he has?

Above all else, $500 for a Logitech with shifter is kind of a joke. At that price point I've heard nothing but better things about the Thrustmaster T300 or even better a Fanatec setup.

I'm up and running, but I can't update Windows for some reason. It keeps hanging when it is searching for updates. Any ideas? I've done some Google searching and am downloading some tools to hopefully fix it, but I have no idea at this point.

Edit: I think it was just taking forever because there was 208 updates to perform on the initial pass. Should be OK now. Gonna let it do it's thing overnight.

Ugh, someone in my gaming group rented an Ark: Survival Evolved server for us, only to shut it down 8 hours later because too many people in the group kept asking him for free crap such as tamed dinos, experience bumps, server config changes (10x XP gains, easier taming, etc), etc.

This is why we can't have nice things.

G27 would be better cost/performance ratio. What I mostly meant is, if you really enjoy driving games, don't try and buy a cheap ass wheel. That is unless you just don't have the funds.

I had but sold the Fanatec CSR and CSR elite pedals with Forza 4. Now I have this kick ass PC to play games but no wheel.

Any way I can get my CPU and GPU temps as an overlay? My motherboard came with so many utilities, but none that can do that apparently. HWiNFO looks like it might do what I need.

This.

You can put so many different things in the overlay you could literally take up 20% of the screen.

Thanks!

When I was playing Rust earlier, when I would move the player around I was getting horizontal lines across the screen that were basically blurs. Any idea what would cause that? No stuttering or anything, just these weird blurs, kind of looked like a mirage.

I did try forcing v sync to always be on and it didn't solve the issue. Saw something else that said triple buffering might work so I will give that a shot later. But yea it seems like it is screen tearing. It's pretty slight, and I get used to it, but it shouldn't be there so it's annoying.

Time to buy a new case to create a custom water cooling set up.

I'm thinking about going with the Corsair 540. I love the way it looks.

Did you force it in game or through the Nvidia Control Panel?

Go into the control panel and try using adaptive VSync. In my personal opinion Vsync is the devil and you should do anything and everything to avoid using it. Adaptive is the lesser of two evils and doesn't produce the same amount of input lag.

Screen tearing is weird and I've never really figured out the root cause of it. I run BF3 at 160-200FPS and never get any tearing. Then I jump over to GTAV and would sometimes get tearing well below 120fps (120hz monitor). But definitely try and fix it from the Nvidia Control Panel instead of in game menus, that should be more successful and then you can apply those settings to all games if you need to.

Mmk. Thanks. I was getting 60 fps. Is that too low? I will monkey with it some more when I get a chance this weekend.

My social schedule is really putting a damper on me being a shut in and gaming all day.

Screen tearing is generally a product of having FPS higher than your monitor's refresh rate.

If it's right at 60 with Vsync it shouldn't be tearing, but sometimes it does anyways.
