Default Ej20x/y swap in my 2008 legacy

I’m sure you guys have seen this topic a million times, I purchased a lgt a year back and had had tons of fun with it. The motor bit the dust. I have no interest in spending tons of money into another 255. So obviously you can get a 20x cheap. My questions are, what are the proper straight forward steps on swapping the motor? Also can I still use my access port? Also what’s a good place to buy on of these motors? Please I’m looking for all the best answers or links to other guides. Thank you!

You can do it. Swap over your intake manifold, but don’t expect to use the exhaust side AVCS unless you find the correct ECU from Japan and that entails another can of worms. You can use the original ECU and keep the AP. Some folks are leaving the AVCS cam gear in place, but have said the motor seems laggy. I don’t see why you couldn’t take your old cam and sprocket from the 255 and plug the OCV holes. I’ve heard good things and bad things about the swap and some have said it’s not worth it. Jspec Auto sells decent JDM motors, I bought my V8 STI swap from them and didn’t have any issues.
