My Pants Just Shrunk - Haven't Been This Amped In A While
My climbing contact e-mailed me this morning and said it looked like everything was a go for climbing in the spring up in Denali National Park (Mt Russell). Since 2001 it had only had 6 recorded ascents. Which that alone is cool enough. But there will be two guides - one is a friend of mine who i will probably do Hunter with in 2009 and was quoted last month in Rock and Ice and the other is probably the best Alaskan Climber alive. So anyway thats it. hooray for me. i get to climb and learn from some amazing guides

Would you prefer your body to be recovered or left on the mountain, just asking.

Good luck. I just saw the documentary on PBS with the NASA guy trying to make it to the top. His core would drop from 103 F down to 96 F. His air sacs in his lungs ruptured and had to turn back. Denali happens to be the coldest mountain on Earth.

I was amazed by how narrow the body's safe operating temperature range is. And by the dead guys. Cool show. |

I got my paperwork in and its rated an alaska grade 2+ (denalis west buttress route is an alaska grade 2) but the paperwork they gave is the same for mt hunter, saying this should give a good idea of what to expect on the expedition. i leave in 10 weeks from tomorrow.
