I miss this community
I'm in facebook groups, they're just not the same. Kills me watching people ask the same questions over and over.

I have one of each currently, a wrx wagon and Baja turbo, plus a 99 Forester. I agree the FB groups are mostly people asking if it's hard to put a turbo in their non turbo.

Long Live the baja !!
Yea guys,
I miss the community too. The Baja forum has been pretty quite for a long time now. After all its been a while since Subaru made any Baja's. Its nice to see that some people still have their Baja's and are driving them. I usually only see a couple out on the road now. Although, I didn't see that many 15 years ago when they were new. I will never get rid of mine. I love the Bratmobile. My wife likes it too, so no problem there. My son helped me turn a wrench on most of the mods, so he appreciates the uniqueness of this Subaru. He gets the Baja when I'm gone. Later, Greg. |

I'm new and I miss it. Guess this and the lack of aftermarket support is the downside of owning rare vehicles.

I got my first Baja a couple months ago and I've found that performance-wise, you can do just about anything with them that you could do with a mid-2000s WRX or STI! In no corner of Subie-land is there some common aftermarket part that you can just buy and bolt on for an additional 50HP.
So bottom line, like any real mods, beefing up your Baja is going to cost some cash. Just about the only thing way more difficult for us than a Rex owner is going to be a 6MT swap. Can't use the stock driveshaft so you'll need to get one fabricated. |

I’ve had an 04 5MT Baja turbo for a couple of years now. Love it. About to buy a ‘17 STI. The Baja has sucked me into the brand. ***128518;

sold my Baja turbo several years back. Drove around a beater 93 legacy 5mt wagon I bought from a friend. Sold it to a family in need (they still drive it around 300k+ miles later!) and bought a `12 Impreza NA hatchback. I really like getting 34+mpg. My Baja T only got maybe 24 once on a long highway drive. I actually had a lot of problems with it over time, but I was stretching my oil change intervals too much (5-9k). What I miss the most was that sound system. Dynamat everywhere and 2 sealed twelves in the back pushing 800watts rms. goooood times.
I was looking at gear ratios on NAs. Subeman90 - are you still on here? I can't believe stock NA 5 speed does 2800rpm at 60mph. that's crazy. My Baja T did 2500 at 60, so did my 93 legacy and my 12 impreza. Sometimes I wish my impreza ran a lil lower rpms as I do a fair bit of hwy miles. |

Newbie alert!
Brand new to the car forum world in general. Bought my '06 Baja about 2 years ago and I'm finally ready to start thinking about modifications for it. I would love to go nuts with it and completely rebuild it since it's got 181k miles on it, but my idea is to make it into a total sleeper and put a WRX motor and 6spd transmission into it, and after doing some research, it's going to be one heck of a project. I'd love to hear what everyone else has done. I truly don't even know where to begin since the only work I've done on my cars in the past has been general maintenance and simple part replacements (radiators, alternators, hoses, spark plugs, belts, etc.).

The time/money part came up when the 5MT in mine died, and I need something to get me to and from work. Plus, the Taco is a 4X4 with a locker, so it's stupid capable off road compared to the Baja. If you want to mod it, do it. But it's expensive... |

I hope more baja owners come forward. Soon I'll be putting an EZ30 H6 in my '03. I have to strip out my '02 LL Bean parts car first. If there is any interest at all, I'm willing to do a running post here (in the Baja section) to show progress.

Hey that's a great project. Would love to see the build.
And yes, definitely too much repetition in any FB group. |

Also a Baja & WRX owner here. Funny enough re-activated my NASIOC account today to see how things have been going on here. Deleted Facebook years ago so been out-of-the-loop otherwise. Great to see several Baja owners are still out there and keeping them alive!

Yeah, I just bought my baja and have started working on it. Crazy enough I started seeing other bajas emerging all over the place. This morning I saw another new baja in town. That means theres 4 bajas rolling around up here, pretty neat since i saw none last year.

Been awhile…
Since I posted here, traded my 04 turbo Baja for an Impreza. a 2017, and I now have a 2020 Impreza Sport. Both nice cars, but, I am still kicking my ass for letting My Baja go! So you guys hold on to those Bajas!
By the way, I am hearing rumors that a new Baja may be coming! I hope it is true! I am going to be first in line to buy one! Keep it under90 folks! |

We hear rumors of new baja's every other month. I'm so far into cried wolf territory that i gave up. Looking at the rivian R1T now. That said my baja will forever hold a bay in storage or garage.
