Default PRL Motorsports 2015+ STI FMIC Kit Development

Due to all the interest in our FA20 FMIC kits and requests to make an STI version, we finally gave in! We started the project this week and this is where we're at so far.

This kit will use the same 650 hp core intercooler with billet end tanks and mounting brackets as our FA20 kits.

Stay tuned for more!

We designed our kit to work / fit around the Cobb intake and air box because so many people are running this intake. Fitment was a bit of a challenge, but we are pretty happy with how everything finally sat.

Another thing we kept in mind was the fact that there will be quite a few people who wish to run speed density, so all of our FMIC kits will include an SD air temp bung pre-welded and block-off NPT plug so that customers don't need to purchase another pipe if they switch to SD in the future, or grind down our finished powdercoat to weld their own bung on. This way all customers will have the option to chance to SD at their convenience!

We have been using Tial products with all of our turbo kits and intercooler kits for years without any problems, all of their products are top notch. We wished to continue to the trend with the '15+ STI kit, so all kits will come standard with a Tial 50mm V-band flange welded in place for the BOV / BPV. However, we realize that a large percent of customers have already bought an aftermarket, OEM fitment 2-bolt BPV, or may not want to purchase a BPV / BOV at all. Because of this we designed a 50mm V-band to 2-bolt BPV adapter, opposite from other BPV adapters on the market. The guys from around the shop put forth their input on how they liked the OEM 2-bolt flange, and unanimously agreed that the 2-bolt flange is big and bulky, and would rather not clutter the engine bay for the guys choosing to run a Tial piece. With this design, customers will see a more aesthetically pleasing product with performance flowing as smooth as it looks!

It does not look like the kit will work with the AEM intake, however, if we see enough demand, we may make another upper pipe option for guys not running Cobb or stock intakes.

Ok, I was asking because AEM is "CARB" certified and wanted to know other options.
Well, I will be going with the Cobb now and looking into your FMIC.

You won't regret it!

Preorders usually end up fading into the first batch of intercooler kits. Kits will be discounted 10% off for intro pricing until the first batch is sold.

The price point is $1349.99 - $1399.99 depending on what version you get, and discounted 10% for intro pricing. Kits are available for preorder on our website.

Bumper beams for our 2015+ WRX and STI FMIC kits with license plate relocation mounts have been fitted up, jigged and are ready for production. These bumper beams will come standard in both of our FMIC kits. Previous customers who bought are kits and did not receive a bumper beam can give us a call or shoot us an email to receive one free of charge.

We made sure that our kits are compatible with the Perrin license plate relocation kits with our mounting hardware. Please note that this bumper beam is NOT intended for tow purposes. All bumper beams will be powdercoated textured black with stainless hardware.

Default PRL Motorsports 2015+ STI FMIC Kit Development

Got my crash bar in and it looks pretty with that powder coat! Even my dog seems to like it! Thanks to the guys at PRL for supplying this free of charge to people who already purchased their FMIC, god knows that they didn't have to. Just a testament to their dedication to offering a quality product and taking care of their customers. I'll update this tomorrow with pictures of it installed with and without the bumper.

One question though. Short of the obvious current design, is there a reason that the bar couldn't be constructed to provide towable strength? It seems like the frame brackets and crash tube are thick enough and with some minor gusseting on that and the tow bolt bracket it could very well accomplish that function.

Awesome, glad to see you're happy and thank you for the kind words!

Had we designed our FMIC kits with a bumper beam in mind from the start we could've most-likely made a "tow-friendly" bumper beam. However, pipe routing and end-tank design affected the space and design we had to work with. Ideally it would've been nice to make the tow point straight to the bracket like the factory piece, but this could not be done.
