People say it's as fast to spool as the TD-04 but from what I can see of the graphs, either the stock exhaust is restricting it or there's something wrong/untrue about the comparisons. Paul: It sure was loud, I don't think I would have called it farty, though people have commented that the VF37 on my car sounds wheezy and I didn't really notice till someone mentioned it.

420WRX: Guess we will have to compare - I find my VF37 wheezy too but didn't notice it until after I went up to RR for drive-shaft work. I didn't think I heard it for the first 4 months running with it. Same motor here but 3" custom TBE with dual resonators and RR DP - what size exhaust are you running?

The exhaust that's eventually going on the car (why say 2 weeks if it's taking 3+?) is the RR SS turbo-back 3" single tip. I knew I wanted really solid quality exhaust but didn't know how much effort, money, and time it'd take out of me. *fingers crossed* I just called RR and they said it's "in transit" so I might have it on the car this weekend. *fingers crossed* EDIT: Oh they got it, now we need to get it to me. Very possible that the car won't be sounding like a Honda on Saturday.. Last edited by 420WRX; 07-29-2009 at 09:51 PM. |

1st day and I'm really worried about police now. (I've passed several police cars in traffic today and no issues yet. I'm probably getting great mileage with all my quick shifts to keep the RPM low!) |

All the island WRXs are PSM. Even splinter's is, partly.

420WRX - which exhaust did you end up with? By my guess, nobody makes quiet exhaust except for maybe Mad Dad and Mad Dad didn't exist when I had mine made. For fitment purposes the aftermarket is good in that regard but for quietness, I really don't think any manufacturers care about it too much. I would rather not go custom but there just wasn't anything that was quiet (their definition of quiet is still pretty loud)

^ Borla Hush is quiet. Borla XR1 is also quiet in comparison (not to the hush but many other aftermarket)

Went to the dyno yesterday. Made 511whp @ 6400rpm and 444wtq at 5900rpm.
Can't find the power cable to my scanner yet so I'll post the dyno sheet later. Peak boost was 27.6psi. |
