2006 Impreza Security Alarm Issues
So a while ago my key fob was broken and hasn't worked since. The morning it finally went out for good i had to unlock my door with the key setting off the alarm. I was unable to get the alarm to stop no matter what I tried. I disconnected the security system by unplugging the connector from the module behind the dash. I have some replacement fobs ready to be reprogrammed but as soon as I plug in the connector the alarm goes off. How can I get this to stop so I can program these new remotes?

insert the key and turn it to the on position (not start) and back to off three times.

Have you checked all the grounds on the engine? A bad ground or corroded ground could cause some issues.

SOLVED.
Turns out for whatever reason my car doesn't (or didn't in my case) show any signs it was in program mode. No sounds or indication lights. I just got frustrated thinking I didn't get it that I just ran through the whole cycle anyways. At the end of it my flasher/blinkers flashed on cluster twice. When I saw that i hit unlock on remote and voilá my new remote was programmed. |
