i just baught my 04 wrx a couple months ago, and i just now realized that theres an oem subwoofer under the passenger seat. however, it doesnt work. ive checked all the fuses (even the inline fuse) and nothing seems to be blown. i dont want to accept the fact that the unit itself might be blown. ne ideas on what could be the problem?

A while ago there was a thread talking about how to wire an "aux in" to the factory tape player leads. Anyone know that thread?

I am trying to find a way to wire up my Sirius S50 in my rsx type s. The type s does not have a way of adding an input through normal means. I was thinkging of wiring to the leads of the tape player as I will never use the tape player. Right now the FM modulator is not cuttin it.

I would like to use a Subie sub with a Sony CDX-M630 deck. Can someone he me with info on how to adapt the sub's wiring harness so that it wil be compatible with this deck? I'm not an electronics guru, so a "ducks-n-bunnies" explanation with diagram would be most appreciated.
I have read the verious threads withthe wiring diagrams but I would like to somehow adapt the sub harness to plug into the RCA connections and the "on" lead on the Sony deck.Yeah-yeah-yeah - the Subie sub, according to my 26 year old son, sucks but I like it anyway and want to use it on my old 911. |

I think I've seen another thread that describes a similar hack to give you an Aux input in place of the cassette, but after a brief search I haven't found it yet. Last edited by SVXdc; 12-03-2006 at 04:20 PM. |

The sub automatically activates when it senses sound on the left channel, so there's no need to use the Sony's "remote on" line. Assuming you used a wiring adaptor ("forward" harness) to connect the Sony into your 911, you can buy a reverse subwoofer plug from me and wire that in between the Porsche forward harness and the Sony harness. Or if your sub came with the factory T-harness, you can cut off the long leg and wire it in between the forward and Sony harnesses. If you're careful not to cut any of the wires running between the two 14-pin connectors, you can sell that portion to a Subaru owner who wants to wire an external speaker amp to their factory radio. One of the guys on the ScoobyMods thread (see link from my HU FAQ thread) talked about the possibility of hacking the sub to use line-level inputs, but unless you do that kind of electronics tinkering a lot, you'd be better off just buying an after-market sub that can take line-level inputs, like the Clarion SRV303. . '04 Baja Stereo Question
I have an '04 Baja Turbo with the 'upgraded' factory stereo (in dash 6 disc changer plus the tweeters). When I fade to the rear speakers there is a clear and noticable DECREASE in low end response, greater than would be expected from just a 'weaker' speaker unable to produce lower end bass.
I am wondering if the head unit is designed with a low-pass filter eliminating low frequencies to the rear speakers, or is there a capacitor in-line somewhere? Both of these ideas seem very unusual to me in a factory stereo setup, but the fact remains, my rear speakers play essentially no low frequencies. Thanks in advance for your help and thoughts!! |

All of the factory subwoofer harnesses that I've seen have tied the sub to the rear speaker outputs, so more rear = more subwoofer. But one person claimed his sub was running off the fronts. Perhaps that's the case in certain models? It's tough to know because the powered subwoofer harness does not appear on Subaru's schematics for the various vehicles. |

In my 2006 Impreza Outback Sport, the factory subwoofer which is under the driver's seat, is definately hooked up to the front speakers. Like the person with the Baja stated, there is a noticable volume drop and bass response drop when you adjust the fader toward the rear.
I would like to increase that volume level, and possibly the overall volume level. Is the best way to do that simply to replace the stock head unit? If so, what do you all recommend for a double-DIN head unit? I don't like the idea of adding "spacers" or cubbies or trays under or below. I would like it to look as stock as possible. Thanks. |

You'll find more choices (and probably pay less) if you stick with single-DIN. You can splurge on a Subaru pocket (perhaps from another model) and it will still look stock. Some pockets even have a flip down door. |

Legacy and new ACC unit!
I've bot this to change my music system in my Subaru legacy spec B:
http://www.subaruparts.ru/i/cat/item/283_2.jpg and 2 din board i thought that it would be like on your photos, but when i opened the box i found that it is black (ACC unit) The problem is that it shows the temperature, mode etc but it doesn't respond to my actions. I push buttons but nothing happens. Do i have to change anything to install it, or it should be connected to the original plug in the car without any changes? I'll make photos an maybe videos today. LHD Legacy spec. B, single zone based acc unit, my2005 bought in Moscow, Russia. |

07 sti aux question
I recently put a 07 hu in my 06 sti and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any way to build a harness for the aux input on it? I know subaru doesn't sell the wiring harness but if someone sells the connecters to hook up to the stereo it would be easy to build my own harness. Thank you.

Aux-in on 2007 stock HUs
Quote:
I'd be surprised if Subaru doesn't sell the interconnect cable as a replacement part. That would get you the connector that plugs into the rear of the factory HU. Subaru might only sell it packaged with the "ashtray box" but you could probably cannibalize that for the 3.5mm jack. I'll update my FAQ thread when I find out more. |

Do the lights and display on the ClearView deck also stay on after you turn the key off? Or is there only sound from the speakers but no lights and no display? What kind of noise? Does it ever stop? Did you install anything besides the new HU (new amp, subwoofer, etc.)? It's difficult to tell what might be wrong, but it sounds like something is still powering the deck even after the key is off. That might mean you have not wired everything correctly. |

May be the same answer as above, but just checking. I have a Clarion DXZ865MP HU and would like to put it into my 07 Legacy, and keep the stock sub operational. All I have to do is hook up the wires from the sub straight to the new harness, and it will be operational? correct? what about the ground, and power on? Thanks.

You'll need to make one mod to the sub T-harness. See this thread: stock sub w/ aftermarket hupost #18 for pictures, and posts 20 & 21 for instructions. [UPDATE: No mode required. 2007 factory sub T-harness went back to the "old" style -- dropped the square 8-pin connector. T-harness will be plug-n-play.] The factory sub harness has no power-on wire. See the info in the Stock HU thread. Last edited by SVXdc; 02-19-2007 at 01:14 AM. |

Will the new 07 head unit fit in an 02 wrx. Plug and play wiring, or is some modification needed?

If your 2002 has the factory under-seat powered subwoofer, it will also be plug-n-play with the 2007 HU. |
