I recently ran across an Amazon deal on a nicer zoom scope for $10. Have been really happy with it after getting it sighted in.

However....it is only held in place by the mouting rail. And I can't tighten it enough to keep if from gradually sliding aft on the rail. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've stripped one of the mount clamps trying to over tighten it.

The scope that came with the rifle had a small shear pin in the base that fit into a small recess in the barrel that took the recoil loads.

Short of modding the new scope base, is there another typical solution?
You might just need to get a new base?

Maybe because I also wanted to ask about the presence of a department where custom work can be performed, something that is not always posted on line.

Are you using a 1-piece mount? If not, get one. Couple of options:
https://www.amazon.com/Medium-Profil...dp/B001WJ4Y28/
https://www.amazon.com/Leapers-Accus...dp/B001BR4TJY/

Also, not to knock on the whole $10 air rifle scope thing because I've been there and done that (have a couple sitting on a shelf collecting dust ), but here's a better scope recommendation:
https://www.amazon.com/Hammers-3-9x4...dp/B0099XIJKC/

This was the one I got...

CVLIFE Hunting Rifle Scope 2.5-10x40e Red & Green Illuminated Gun Scopes with 20mm & 11mm Mount https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PRVLMK4..._hIunAbFS2AG6K

The original scope came with a 1-piece mount.

I may see if I can swap the new optics to that.

Hmm. Yeah, the mounts I posted aren't going to help you here. I assumed it was a standard style tube, but that's obviously not the case here. You're probably stuck with the mount that came with that scope. When all else fails, there is always threadlocker.

Btw, here is the Hammers scope I linked earlier mounted on my Hatsan. It has 4 mount screws which is even better than the 3 screws that you'll find on the Leapers 1-piece. Of course, my rifle also has a "backstop" built into it to prevent the scope from walking back so that probably helps as well.

/Airgunning up the gun thread.

I came to the same conclusion and decided to modify the existing scope base.

I used my drill press to make a hole for a vertical stop pin. And then went through my vast collection of random hardware and found a long set screw to thread into the new hole in the base and adjusted it to protrude into the corresponding recess on the barrel.

I had indeed stripped the dovetail mount fasteners by over tightening them. So I had to knock those out and put some new fasteners in to clamp up on the dovetail.

Got it all back together and thought for sure it would require a sight re-adjustment. I took it out for a few test shots at my most challenging target.

Much to my great pleasure, it was right where it had been...no adjustment required. I went 3 for 3 on it and decided to quit while I was ahead.

The backstop on you rifle makes more sense...I'd like it better I think.

And hey...it's a gun thread, not a firearms thread!

Note: they're advertised at "high-shelf" lowers...whatever that is.

I read about RDIAS, and it's not something I'll ever spend the money to legally own.

Just took a look at my AR and extra lower to find they are also "high-shelf".

I've got both high and low shelf lowers in my collection. Not that I'll ever be able to afford a giggle switch.

I searched, but surprisingly this isn't in this thread at least.

The Franklin Armory Binary Trigger. I heard of it from a conversation I had with a guy in another unit here, he said he has it in his 300BLK AR. After, a couple of YouTube videos and reviews, I'm kind of interested, tho it is a little expensive for basically a type of fun switch.

Obviously another product in that 'gray' area of legality (like Slide Fire). Cool, but I don't know if it's $500 cool.

Has anyone installed an APEX AEK in an M&P (2.0 compact) and now have a click sound just before hitting the "trigger wall"? I installed one last weekend and have this click sound. I found 1 place that referenced the same thing and it might be caused by how the trigger bar interacts with the new USB (when looking through the gap between the slide and frame I can see the trigger bar move laterally at the time of the click). The click also sometimes happens right before the trigger reset click (and you can see the same trigger bar movement).

It's $370 or so from a third party website.

Still.

$100 and I'd be inclined to buy it.

spent a few hours pulling parts off my old .40 p-07 that i didnt care for and installed them on a new 9mm suppressor ready p-07.

all cajun gun works parts:

short reset kit
extended firing pin and spring
billet hammer
stiffer sear spring
softer trigger return spring
13# hammer spring (should set off all primers with the extended firing pin)

also stoned the trigger bar and reduced trigger bar tension and put a light coat of slide glide lite on the sear surface, d/a roller and back of the trigger bar. went from 10#8oz/4#2oz and mushy to 6#10oz/3#8oz and fairly crisp.

also, selling a couple of triggers im not using. the ruger 452 was taken out of the package and played with but never installed. i measured it at 3#9oz and its pretty damn crisp, worth more than they sell for. if you arent familiar with them, check out a review. the safety and grip are also 100% usable on an ar-15. the geissele hi speed national match has never been opened.

ruger $100 shipped
geissele $225 shipped

I get that. That was the reason why any improved trigger was more enticing, you can keep your sight picture the same unlike a bump stock anything.
