Can a 2002 steering wheel fit on a 2005 STi?
Looking into replacing the cheap NRG wheel the previous owner had put on with an OEM one. Just wondering if an older one would fit on my 2005 STi since those (2002, 2003, etc.) are the only ones I can find in my price range. I'm not really concerned about cruise controls or volume or anything, just if it'll fit on and that the airbag can still work. Thanks!

Think will swap
But Will need same yr airbag Column splines are the same 100% 95% sure the yellow airbag pigtail is the same You need to worry about the clock spring that has the yellow airbag pigtail thou Without tht, airbag will not be functional and AB light will be on Is airbag lite on now with NRG wheel? Horn work? Blinkers/turn signals cut off after a turn? I have a 03 WRX wheel on my 05 Sti column |

Clockspring and switch assemblies for 2002-2003 are different part numbers than 2004-2005. As the old saying goes - you have to pay to play. If I couldn't afford to do this job right then I would keep saving money until I could afford it. I wasn't that smart when I was a kid and ruined a few cars trying to make things work just because I had a part I could make fit. |

I'll make sure the click spring is all there with the split and everything. and addressing your questions, the airbag light is on, but the horn does not work and the turn signals do not reset/cancel. although, i suspect that the horn isn't working simply because of whoever installed the hub |

^^^^no without a clockspring, all those issues will occur
So You need a stock steering wheel/AB/clock spring and will be good Again, I have a 98 clock spring with 03 WRX wheel/airbag on a 05 steering column ! Everything works Not too intense of an install Just make sure you line up clock spring arrows I am sure there are some vids on utube showing the same |
