How is it that Robert Duvall was 50 years old from 1974 until the turn of the century?

When you practice for a professional sport the goal is usually to win a championship. I always figured with acting it's just to...act? Not to win awards? Maybe I'm wrong.

Just find it funny reading comments about a performance and people freaking "OMG THIS BETTER WIN THEM THE EMMY! THIS WAS AN EMMY PERFORMANCE"

Do the actors even give a ****?
Like any other job, awards can put it on their resume and demand/expect to be paid more in the future because of it.

A lot has changed in Hollywood since that happened.

I think another aspect of this is, does the general public even care anymore? Awards shows viewing numbers have been dropping the last several years, this year was painfully bad for the Oscars for various obvious reasons.

Just seems at one point awards maybe have meant more, I don't think that's the case anymore.

Maybe it's like winning an employee of the year award. You probably weren't trying to win it but are happy someone noticed? I think it's more on the minds of viewers than the actor I just find it odd is all.

Anyone watched The Bad Batch? It's a spinoff from Clone Wars. Pretty damn good so far.

in general, anyone likes to be recognized for their efforts in their field of expertise. as a MOP, if I toss out some praise every now and again, it is shocking how well this lifts morale.

from the aspect of watching it on TV, I can't get into it. watching everyone congratulate each other doesn't do anything for me. and the mental ejaculate they spew when accepting the awards just seems hollow.

I don't care about other industry's trade shows, I don't see why I should care about Hollywood's. All those awards are right up there with Plumber of the Year for me

In the past, it was "fun" and "entertaining" to witness the celebration of celebrities' successes. I think its safe to say that, collectively, we are far more entertained by their failures these days, and we don't need award shows to witness that.

Disney+ released a new 40 minute video showing the production of the Luke scene. Pretty good stuff.

That reminds me. A fan remade that scene (better) and Lucasfilm hired him.

They actually talk a lot about that in the making of. I found it interesting they looked at 3 techniques: Complete CGI character (like Grand Mof Tarkin in Rogue One), De-aging like in Ant Man, and Deep Fake.

They put a lot of effort into doing the Deep Fake and the footage they showed of it IMO looked BETTER than the de-aged face technique they went with. They just didn't finish it completely.

I think they learned their lesson though after how many fans and third party studios re-did that scene with deep fake tech that wound up looking way better for far, far less money than they spent on this.

Although, I'm still very much in the Sebastian Stan camp, because having a new actor they could have spun off entirely new shows with Luke

If it means they're taking their time on the CGI then by all means I can wait.

Pedro Pascal says he has been actively petitioning Disney/Lucasfilm to bring Nicholas Cage in for at least a cameo, if not a regular role.
